How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...I was just settling in to my commute in this morning, when I realised I forgot my water bottle. I quickly tried to remember the location of water fountains and taps on my way, but I haven't used them since lots were removed or had their handles taken off, so I had a few side tracks to my commute. I didn't feel too bad, but I did have a large drink on arriving at work. Just as well there was pretty much full cloud cover. I guess I better head over to the "I'm an idiot" thread...

Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...I did the no water bottle this morning. Felt terrible for a while.
Had a good mini stack, went to cut the corner of the bike path and went over some sand. Front wheel went a bit sideways and I have a good chunk out of my ankle and a few scrapes up my other shin.
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Pleasant ride back yesterday afternoon.
This morning I made it to within 5km of the office in the Melbourne CBD when it starting pouring down. Caught just about every red light along Brunswick St in Fitzroy North, getting thoroughly soaked in the extra time it took to get in while waiting at the intersections. Hopefully the kit dries out by this afternoon. Soma Double Cross 2012 - Commuter || Giant CitySpeed (Alfine 8 IGH) - Commuter || Bakfiets Long 2011 - Cargo Bike
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...was a good ride this morning....left home at 6, was very pleasant...by the time I got to the office just after 8 it was steaming and I was sweating buckets
yesterday the storm clouds rolled in and the BOM radar wasnt looking too good. Luckily got home dry and no incidents. Had a good storm early evening and into the night
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...The humidity in Sydney yesterday was a bit on the nasty side. I managed to miss the downpour in the late afternoon but it didn't seem to make much of a difference in terms of clearing the air. I was dripping on both commutes!
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Man it was hot today... And the headwind.
Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...
Headwind. Am assuming you live on the north side of brisbane. Must be 80% of the year those of us on the Southside ride home in that same headwind.
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...
Looks like us south siders will have a tailwind for the commute home for the rest of this week...time to go out and get some more QOM action happening on the commute home...or at least increase my lead on the ones that I have Lisa
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...
hot, yes. but interestingly if you commute out of prime commute times, the ride home is leisurely and below critical headwind speed. chop wood
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Good ride back via MYT, Banyule Trail and the Ring Road Trail.
Warm and calm commute into the Melbourne CBD this morning. Soma Double Cross 2012 - Commuter || Giant CitySpeed (Alfine 8 IGH) - Commuter || Bakfiets Long 2011 - Cargo Bike
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Beauty of a ride in this morning. Was a bit concerned that I could die at any time so I was taking it easy, first time I'd ever built a wheel and it was the first ride... and I didn't die, so I call that a success!
It settled in after the first 500m - 1km and after that it was good as gold, still haven't given it a hard flogging, will start subjecting it to some harder braking on the way home.
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...
Yes - I see your name against some of the segments I ride... nice work! The hot ride yesterday arvo was tempered nicely by the splash into the pool with the kids when I got home... and by a few PRs and a top 10 on some segments.
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Perth:
Not long after leaving home I came across a lot of shredded bark from tasmanian blue gums, ghost gums etc. Must have been a few early squalls to start the day off. Though I didn't notice any fences down. Looking out the window now I can see that the smart people are indeed those that left the bike home today. Roland passed me but there weren't too many others out there. Certainly gonna be the train for me tonight. Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...
While I'm with you in spirit there my early marks are to pick up kids. It's a balance between getting more done at work and getting there in time so often I have to go faster than I'd like. Those in BNE should check the radar. People leaving later could get rained on. Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.

Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...
I'll swap, you catch the bus and I'll ride in the rain, and clean your bike.
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...
correct. Parkinson I see - I saw a pic of your ride and I HAVE seen the black Surly with racks on Algester Rd when I occasionally catch the bus, I too have a black Surly Crosscheck, I ride it to the city most days. 7 steel bikes and counting
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...warm morning with the fog this morning. this afternoon is going to be a stinker
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...clouds threatened to rain all morning, got the faintest spray at some points but rain held off. Was very muggy. Legs are pretty stuffed and I took it easy. Thought about and even started an attempt at a Strava segment...but realised my body had nothing to give so sat back down and wussed out. Didnt help that the day prior I consumed a copious amount of alcohol and not that much food.
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Steamy ride back yesterday afternoon. Couple of stops for refreshments made it quite tolerable though.
Warm commute in this morning as well, and Melbourne will hit 38C today, according to the forecast...will be pretty hot work... Soma Double Cross 2012 - Commuter || Giant CitySpeed (Alfine 8 IGH) - Commuter || Bakfiets Long 2011 - Cargo Bike
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Except for two segments - I took it easy today.. e.g. cruising up a climb (just a slight incline really) at around 22km/h instead of the usual pushing for 30+.
Actually found myself feeling a little skittish on some leaf littered corners - for some reason my confidence left me in the middle section of my ride. It came back though... all good again.
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Commuted via Redcliffe this morning.
Problem is the drool has been running down my chin and dripping on the keyboard. It's stopped working and I can't find the energy to go and find a new one. Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.

Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Perth:
Windy. Stuff all over the path. Not much company. Somehow I never had to bring out the pancho though I did get some spray from the river in places. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel
Re: How was your commute ... today, yesterday, last week ...Today? Bloody hot. Riding home in about 38C I got about half way and ditched the helmet, those things are way too hot when it is a hot day. I carry extra water on the way home on days like today so I can throw some over myself, still hard to lose all the heat though.
