A few of us are riding along the the Warburton rail trail next Sunday 27/5/12 on vintage bicycles.
The rail trail starts in Lilydale and ends in Warburton. The round trip is 80k. Lunch is at the Cog Café in Warburton.
The trail is well formed gravel with a few long but gentle climbs and descents. The ride is suitable for old bikes with little or no brakes or gears.
Meet us at 9.00am at the car park in Creek Rd near intersection with Beresford Rd.
End of the Lilydale line, 1/2 km NE of the train station.
Copy and paste this latitude and longitude into Google maps: "-37.75183 145.35193"

Hope to make this a regular event.

Another retro ride along the the Warburton rail for classic/vintage/retro (but you can ride whatever you like). Saturday 1st December
The rail trail starts in Lilydale and ends in Warburton. The round trip is 80k. Lunch at the Cog Café in Warburton. The trail is well formed gravel with a few long but gentle climbs and descents.
This time we might turn left at Launching Place and go up on to the scenic aqueduct trail then down the Donna Buang Rd. to Warburton. It is a gentle climb on a made road to the aqueduct (maybe 200m higher than valley). The aqueduct trail is flat (obviously) but gravel is a bit rough for skinny modern road bikes, but will be okay for old bikes. Descent down Donna Buang Rd. for maybe 3 km (requiring reasonably good brakes). Those who don't want such a long ride can join us at Launching place and either ride along the aqueduct or along the rail trail to COG at Warburton.
Meet us at 9.00am at the car park in Creek Rd near intersection with Beresford Rd.
End of the Lilydale line, 1/2 km NE of the train station.

If your running late phone us and we will wait for you (Paul 0414 665 527, Mark 0418 539 643)
Phone us if you're joining us at Launching Place. Should be going through Launching Place some time after 10, but you never quite know what might happen with old bikes.
