Trek SLR will this headset fit

Postby Bentnose » Sun Dec 02, 2012 3:07 pm

I have a 2005 Trek SLR, Alpha Superlight Race Aluminium. It was bought as a frameset with the headset so I can't give you a model, the headset in it is an Aheadset intergrated I'd say a Cane Creek style would fit, would this one fit http://www.this link is broken/Mode ... delID=6183

Hmm, it didn't have my bike in. The bearings sit in a small insert that sits in the frame but it and the bearings can be removed and put in with your fingers, might it be a semi intergrated headset? The top cover and bottom parts that are visible are very thin. I may have to post some photo's?

This frame http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/2005/archive/1500 is the same as mine, nice handlebars, not! What the hell is a slimstack?

Ha ha...It's the flipped up stem that makes it looks freaky. Its hard to tell whether the headset is integrated or semi-integrated from Trek picture

edit: found this about the 2007. Frame looks the same

I just picked up a 2008 Trek 1.9 with the aluminium frame and the headset was frozen, so I had to replace it - after cutting the old one off!

It is an integrated headset and I used one of these - http://www.cyclingdeal.com.au/buy/1-1-8 ... led/F-407K" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It fitted and works perfectly.

I think the FSA one you linked to in your post would also work.

Thanks Macca33, that type should be the way to go, looks basically the same as the FSA one I mentioned also. Love the write up about the First Components.
