Would love to say I will tick over the 15k mark before the end of the year but I some how doubt it... Maybe the weather will be very kind .
Well done to everybody making their targets ( and plus some! ) .

Don't give up! (Kate Bush & Peter Gabriel )Livetoride wrote:Great to see everyone kicking goals I've give up with BJ, can't be bothered but should do
It's hard but you've just gotta stick with it.
Consider my daily routine: Up at 5:45, breaky and a few quick household chores then stretching then a flying 14km commute to start work at 7:15. Leave work at 15:45 for a 100km or so ride home. Arrive home at 19:15 for dinner (mostly prepare and serve meal and sometimes wash up) plus a few other household chores thrown in, then there's AUDAX admin work, and maybe some quick bike maintenance, more stretching then bed at 22:30-23:00. On my night off I do a complete grocery shop and often cook dinner as well. I also prepare all lunches for the 5 day working week for the wifey and myself. We haven't got kids thank dog!
Cheers

I'm assuming that's 33 with three zeros behind it????
Impressive work...here I was hoping to get close to 10k.
I'm tired just thinking about that amount of k's

Given that I would have been lucky to ride 2000 k's in a year previously I am pretty chuffed. Have to take into account 5-7 lost weeks to injuries and only a four day commuting week I think I have done ok.
If everything goes well, am hoping to do another 1500- 2000 k's next month.
I am pretty amazed at all the people who are doing more k's...takes a big effort and congrats to them all.

Not adding those kms to BJ? - pretty poor form for the organiser of the ACF club isn't it?

I might be able to get a few decent rides in between Christmas and New Year to achieve this!
@TLL - here's hoping for a really, really white Christmas!

My first goal this year was to take out #1 on the BJ site, about mid year my target was to stay within 5K of 1st, now I don't think I'll stay within 10K of 1st & 3rd place will probably pass me in the next week or 2.
Why? I have had constant pain in my lower back for the last 6 months (I usually have lower back soreness so this wasn't too big an issue), my cods (balls, testies, whatever) have been constantly numb for about the last 3 months, I've had saddle sores that haven't healed since around August, my hat goes off to the guy leading BJ because I'm destroying myself trying to stay in the same state little less the same town.
But the straw that broke the camels back was-
On the weekend, riding with my usual group, I went to put just a little hurt on them, whilst I could accelerate away, I couldn't lay down any kind of decent sprint, if I was racing, my sprint was that weak I would have been easy swamped, yesterday I went for a ride & found I just have no juice in my legs. I have been going through a tube of 2 different anti-inflammatory's every month, just to keep my legs in good enough condition to function off the bike.
From here to the end of the year, I'll be doing the 25km daily commute, the Saturday group ride & just easy 30-50km rides on Sundays & Mondays.
Next year I will set maybe 15K, but I won't be chasing that target, I'll be riding for the enjoyment, I know from past years I'll probably knock out somewhere over that mark, but I'm not going to actively going to chase any point.
Seem to remember why I don't really like things like strava or BJ, you can get too focused about minor things & forget the major ones (like really enjoying cycling).

Friday before last was the first day I haven't ridden in about 2 years, I'm taking 2 weeks off in Feb & not taking any bikes with me, going fishing, playing golf, sight-seeing, it's not something I've done in the last 20 to 25 years.
