![]() This summer is set to start with a big shiny bang!! Fixed.org.au, with a raft of sponsors and supporters, is having its first ever Summer Show n Shine. The FOA Show & Shine is an evening event of fine bicycles and boutique stalls, situated in a 1920′s converted warehouse in North Melbourne. Enter your bike for $5 per category (see below for categories), win prizes, drink coffee, and peruse interesting stalls. Hosted at the home of fixed.org.au, the Electron Workshop, the evening will be a chance for participants to showcase their pride and joy and check out the best bikes Melbourne (and hopefully other corners of Oz) has to offer. So start building if you’ve got something awesome in the works, start polishing if you’re pride and joy is covered in dust, or start scouring ebay if you want to be a part of the fun! There’ll be food, drinks, coffee and a whole lot of shiny steel to check out whilst meeting new people, catching up with old mates, and generally having a good time. FYXO will be running his Australian Custom Bicycle Show over in South Melbourne til 5pm, so why not make a weekend of it and head over afterwards for an evening of good times!! Re: Show and Shine for vintage bikes Melb this SaturdayDont forget the show and shine tonight in North Melbourne.
I am taking a a couple of 1962 Malvern Star 5 Stars, a track and a road, if you want to check out some original paint. Also taking Les Einsiedel's 1925 Malvern Star road bike. This is the bike that he won the 1926 Warrnambool to Melbourne on. And a Cecil Walker track bike, 1976, with Dura Ace 10mm drivetrain. Set up like John Nicholson's World Sprint Championship bike, when he was sponsored by Shimano. There will dozens of other intersting bikes there. Warren

Re: Show and Shine for vintage bikes Melb this SaturdayWould love to have made this. Thanks for the pictures.
Re: Show and Shine for vintage bikes Melb this SaturdayThat was a great night, so many lovely bikes on show and a good solid turn out. Warren's collection of classic Aussie bikes was truly stunning and a great piece of cycling history.
I'll likely see photo's popping up on other forums soon, so I'll post them here as they come. Biggest highlight for me was unexpectedly meeting the bloke who built my 'mystery' track frame (as seen below). On this fuzzy morning I can't remember his name but he said he was on this forum. It's such a beauty of a frame but thus far I've only found scraps of info on it, to have the maker tell me the whole story was serendipitous. Mate, you made my week. ![]()
Re: Show and Shine for vintage bikes Melb this SaturdayFrame builder of your Vitesse was Peter Campbell, who has started making frames again.
Re: Show and Shine for vintage bikes Melb this SaturdayPeter Campbell! Thanks for jogging my memory BP, I'll record that info in threads on that bike. From memory he said he also built for Hillman and Cecil Walker, among others? Good to hear he's building again.
For those interested, here's some pics from Gav Bannerman's flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gbannerman ... 236373204/

Peter Campbell is 'Cotterpin' on this forum, maybe shoot him a pm to find out.
Re: Show and Shine for vintage bikes Melb this Saturday
Thanks for info. I have met Peter twice -VCC swap meet and the SnS, thanks to Warren. He has sent me a PM confirming he built the frame. My wife bought this bike from the Bicycle Workshop in Ringwood in 1983, not custom built for her, but her size. cycles gitane There is NO room in the shed for the next bike! New shed rqd.
