For 5 seconds fun... floors being sanded/2 pot mixed at home. Had to store at work. Offset plate coming out of 'setter/processor in foreground.

The bike is an Apollo III that I found at a second hand furniture shop of all places. It has a real mixed bag of components, with the most interesting a Suntour LePree three pulley rear deralleur. First I've ever seen of these, you could wrap a stupid amount of chain with it!

I know it is an optical illusion, but the angle of that photo gives us the impression that the front rim is a deeper V than the rear.ldrcycles wrote:New yaban chain with bits missing from it (hollowed plates ) and Brooks B17.
So my advice is to repeat the photo with a front wheel with shallower V.
Nice one mate.

Both 46mm, i could go with smaller on the front, or use it as an excuse to step up to 60-80mm on the back .
I'm actually considering building a new wheelset with Novatec hubs and 60mm carbon clincher rims. Maybe 60 front 80 rear, with some aftermarket Reynolds decals. But then the silver/blue scheme would be out, unless i have a crack at painting carbon, danger will robinson!

just to be a Contrarian, I actually think that a classic frame like this, with it's Brooks really needs a more classic original style wheel set. Those hideous blue deep things totally spoil what is a really classically styled frame with a nice pedigree. And as for Crabon wheels, save them for a crabon frame.ldrcycles wrote:I hadn't noticed but now you mention it...

The detail: Zeus cranks and pedals, Blumfield Duralite hi flange hubs, tubular tyres, steel head stem, bars, and headset.
This frame is very light with no tubing stickers.
It has been renovated (repainted etc) in the past and I have added the wheels to complete.
On the seat tube is a decal: Reno by T.Dixon Traralgon (partially damaged and hard to read)

Sun CR18 rims on Novatec hubs
The blue wheels
And a set of black cheap v's i have for another project.
The blue wheels are definitely still my pick, the black ones don't stand out as much and the 27" wheels are downright boring.

This is the only 906 that I've seen in the flesh but a guy in Vienna had the same frame on ebay last week. It only came in yellow and was Dura-ace 8 sp STi equipped.
The frame and fork are Easton Tubing 7005 double butted. Still has the original Ritchey CompLite stem but I changed the bars as it was too long for me and I really liked the stem. Dura-ace cranks and rings. Rest of the groupset is 8 sp RX100 that I pulled from a Shogun with a cracked frame. Wheels are Formula Microlite hubs, ss spokes and Sunrims (Venus). I liked the look of it on ebay as a contrast to my Cannondale which looks fairly busy while this one is more subtle. 9.2kg
I rode this on a Raturday riverloop a couple of weeks ago as my non-magnetic retro.
