On a totally unrelated note, how on earth did this thread get to 40 pages?

I would say that Tour de Tamborine was taxing.
Fortunately i got in at about 9.15, just before it got really hot.
After the event i found it a physical strain just looking at some Antique shops at North Tamborine.
A business proprietor took pity on me and told me to go and have a lie down.
Felt better after a sleep.
There was a stunt team show at the Sportsground after the event.
I remember those guys from last year, they have some serious skills .
I was able to tag on to a group to shelter from the headwind in the valley (although it was pretty tame really) and rolled across the line about 8.50.

As long as it ain't Redbank Raturday I won't mind. Doing a work(oops, sorry Mr Potty mouth came out with a very rude 4 letter word) reverse on Friday (having Fri off cause I attended my employment place on Mon).

I reckon we knock ringfield on the head until after new years.
too many things going on for most folk. my wife's giving me grief coz all the saturday plans shifted to sunday, then possibly back to saturday, we have ppl coming over on both days anyway now so i'm kinda in the bad books no matter what day we ringfield on..
how about a riverloop east again, only thru roma st parklands? avoids a few sets of lights. maybe we can all stick together this time.

lets just agree that once we're in the pack, we'll stay on the road until we turn off at the gateway. No turnoffs onto bikepaths.
here's a peek.

I'm playing 3pm, so can do whatever on Saturday morning. Happy to extend the east loop, however Velo13 is coming up as well, and I know he's on a time schedule for the morning. I'd be happy for a tool around the regular loop, as the majority know where it goes, etc., but am happy if someone just decides.

munga wrote:hi, are you feeling bad about sleeping in?
don't actually have a wild crazy social life, leaving you hung over and broke come saturday?
want to get up early on saturdays and hang out with people that seem pretty much like you, but somehow, more relaxed?
got an old bike that actually works most of the time?
then come for a ride!
vaeske and I have been meeting at 6am saturday mornings for a 32km river loop (it's not as far as it sounds - just say it quickly, and then on monday morning say it nice and slowly at work when you just know that lazy clown you don't really like is eavesdropping), on our 80s steel roadies.
as i have chicken legs, things are rather leisurely, around 20-25km/h, but getting better.
incredibly nice of me to provide all of these rest stops for vaeske, but i'm sure he would appreciate someone to chat to on each crest, and i'd appreciate someone who's actually slower than i, thus giving me the opportunity to have a break on some of the crests too!
if you're a bit quicker than 25km/hr but think you might be interested, come along anyway - it'll give vaeske something to do.
if you've got a retro bike (or a love of retro bikes) and any of the following applies to you:
- chicken legs (or at least an understanding of what it means to have chicken legs),
a desire to get a bit fitter,
you enjoy talking about bikes and stuff,
pro-coffee attitude,
then come for a ride! no snobbery, no ego's - you don't even need a lycra bodysuit! we're just a couple of blokes looking for some friendly peeps to share the morning rides with
melbourne hotel, browning st, west end. 6:00am - 8:30am+

What about this side of the river ?munga wrote:what about the hippy cafe with the iced tea?
MB Cycles at Milton has just opened a coffee shop.
Could be a good one to visit.
We would feel right at home as long as someone brings an Italian bike.
