TCR Advanced 0 (2012)Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)Found a store doing this for $3250 for 2013 model... Now to figure out whether to try and save money by getting the uglier 2012 instead. HMM.
Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)
I'd grab that deal with both hands! It's a bit warmer here than Scotland isn't it!
Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)For sure, still very much current model that is for sure. I paid $3600 for my 2013 Defy Advanced 0 on release.

Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)Yep and agree nice
Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)Its a different bike. It's the special edition normally done with Rabobank plastered all over it but since they have pulled sponsorship this year, I guess this is it. In previous years it was normally white.
Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)Agree the colour scheme looks very nice on the US model! The red TCR looks great too! I find it funny that colours I thought in the shop did not look great are actually very sweet on the street!
A cautionary tale with the TCR and the clearance between the rear tyre and frame - I managed to cycle over some kind of roofing screw on my way back from Eastern Creek Raceway a few weeks ago. It stuck in the tyre and managed to go under the rear brake caliper, which actually helped drive the screw right into the tyre. It then proceeded to scratch the rear of the frame as the head of the screw was just a bit thicker than the gap between the tyre and frame! I would of been doing 40 km/h at that time so i did 2 or 3 revolutions before I stopped, wondering what the hell was going on! Nasty scratch on the bike now albeit in a place you can hardy see. I'll have to hit it with fine sand paper and then some Giant blue nail polish - can't wait to drop in to Priceline and ask for that! lol JM
Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)That same thing happened with my old TCR Advanced 2 last year on the way back from La Perouse.
Nail sitting proud in the tyre and it went under the caliper and into the rear of the frame. Not too much damage but annoying. New SL is scratch free as of yesterday, that'll change though.

Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)Hi Gents
Finally changed seat/bartape on TCR Adv 0 (2013) to blac/black. IMO looks a lot better than dirty white! Will try to post a pic when I get home this evening. JM
Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)I'm looking into one of these myself this afternoon, hopefully with the Di2. I'll keep my Trek as the Alloy framed everyday bike and the Giant Adv. 0 for the special purposes. Maybe get them to swap over my 3T stem to it as well.
I really want to see if I can get one at $3000 if possible. I'd thought of upgrading my existing Trek to Di2, but it's not cost effective. How is the adjustment on the saddle up and down - looks like the tube narrows at one point.
Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)Adjustment is fine there is plenty of room. You can use these as an every day bike no probs they are very tough. As for 3k they are around I paid that for mine last December its a 2013.

Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)Check Ebay as there has been some very well priced Di2 Giant bikes on there of late. Seen a 2013 Defy Advanced 0 (like mine) for $2.5k.

Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)Thanks Marty!
I'll just have my HED 65mm clinchers on the Giant and the Trek can have the alloys. Easy - and no longer swapping brake pads over when changing the wheels.
Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)I did take a look at a 2013 TCR Adv. 0 yesterday - very nice bike and just with the standard wheels, the same weight as my Trek at the moment. But the store also had a Cervelo R3 - also very nice, though it had only mechanical Ultegra.
The Cervelo had some pretty basic wheels on it, so I expect putting my carbon ones on it... Hmm - tough choice. But the easy choice is to not get a 2013 Trek. Edit: I'm now the owner of a Giant TCR Advanced SL3.
Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)As I mentioned above, I've joined the list of Giant owners:
My new ride: ![]() ![]() Ultegra Di2 on it, frame is TCR Advanced SL3. Still to do: - Get my normal front wheel back (it's getting work done on it - nothing major) - swap some new bidon cages to it (these ones from my other bike) - Work out how to put a rear light on it for those times I need it - manage to find time to take it out for a decent ride - I only just got it yesterday. Really itching to ride it quickly. Trek Madone 4.5, Giant TCR Advanced SL3 ISP Di2 (the green machine)
Re: TCR Advanced 0 (2012)Knog make a pretty good light that goes easily onto my TCR seat post (non-ISP, vector shape ie not round).
