don't actually have a wild crazy social life, leaving you hung over and broke come saturday?
want to get up early on saturdays and hang out with people that seem pretty much like you, but somehow, more relaxed?
got an old bike that actually works most of the time?
then come for a ride!
vaeske and I have been meeting at 6am saturday mornings for a 32km river loop (it's not as far as it sounds - just say it quickly, and then on monday morning say it nice and slowly at work when you just know that lazy clown you don't really like is eavesdropping), on our 80s steel roadies.
as i have chicken legs, things are rather leisurely, around 20-25km/h, but getting better.
incredibly nice of me to provide all of these rest stops for vaeske, but i'm sure he would appreciate someone to chat to on each crest, and i'd appreciate someone who's actually slower than i, thus giving me the opportunity to have a break on some of the crests too!
if you're a bit quicker than 25km/hr but think you might be interested, come along anyway - it'll give vaeske something to do.
if you've got a retro bike (or a love of retro bikes) and any of the following applies to you:
- chicken legs (or at least an understanding of what it means to have chicken legs),
a desire to get a bit fitter,
you enjoy talking about bikes and stuff,
pro-coffee attitude,
then come for a ride! no snobbery, no ego's - you don't even need a lycra bodysuit! we're just a couple of blokes looking for some friendly peeps to share the morning rides with
melbourne hotel, browning st, west end. 6:00am - 8:30am+

I hope somebody catches the low life scum & cuts their testicles off with a very blunt spoon, or drags them by the legs up a very rough road behind a car or van.
Bring them round my place, I have some very, very sharp knives that they could meet.

if i wanted to be analytical about it, i'm probably only down a few hundred, being that i've picked up most parts for a song. i've got mates who lost that much a few tuesdays ago on a horse race.
pity that stems gone, pity i fitted a new record chain, pity i put a new saddle on it 3 weeks ago etc.
stuff happens. it's only milk. stop crying, and carry on.
let us never speak of this again.

Need any parts give us a yell, got that whole Campy gruppo sitting here that I was going to use if the Razesa ever arrives, all yours if you need it or I've compiled nearly a whole Superbe Pro gruppo for the Superlite, same deal.
On the plus side, Guy will ride so much better this morning when I tell him he'll soon have a brother to ride with.
2 Verty's who'da thunk?
Off to do the employers reverse R/L, not sure what this lot are like. Wish me luck.

crowz, it's a blue and yellow team bike (a real vertex, not some tri guy cardboard cutout version imported by repco so some cardboard cutout tri guy could make a few bucks)
i'm sure it's in the repco thread.

Not sure if I have a 114mm, I do have a 113mm Shim one, but I think it is too worn at the ball bearings to use, it's the one I tried to rebuild using bigger bb's & it kept working loose, but I'll have a measure whilst I'm downstairs (just going to do something on the Benny).
Me & 2 others (they tell me they had 10 last week), I would have averaged 30kph but I parked the car at the bus depot near Coo tha, then in my infinite wisdom thought it would be a nice idea to go ride up Gower St., so my mornings average ended up under 19kph (why do I insist on trying to ride up hills, I know I suck at it ), it was nice & cool (read raining) when I got home so I thought I'd go for another ride, ended up out the back of Caboolture playing up a hill there, so you guys have got to be gentle on me tomorrow.
Where are we riding to from & by which route
How can these painters justify their prices, just on an hours work-----
Hmmm a grey Benotto??????????

if wazza bails, we're doing a riverloop.
coffee could be anywhere, but if steve wants to take us to his eyetie bike shop over at milton, we could do that: yifano will have his binachi, dannio has the tamari - good enough!

Na, it'll be Champagnotto, sounds like a Basque provincial winery.
I haven't bought the paint yet, but it'll be Alfa Romeo Champagne with clear top coat in Du Pont 1K acrylic , I'm separating the colour & the polished aluminium with a thin blue pin stripe . Hope to be laying the colour over xmas, laying the clear in Jan & be putting the bike together in Feb.
