Ridley Noah Fast

Postby bardygrub » Sun Dec 09, 2012 7:06 am

Hi All,

Have recently been looking on the net at what i would like to have as my next bike if i was to win lotto. I have to say that the Noah Fast is one of the best looking bikes i have ever seen. And find the new brakes and fork design to be something very interesting.

Does anyone have or seen one in the fleash?

They look pretty cool, however the brake cable routing looks a bit odd, it comes out practically perpendicular to the frame... If you look at it directly from behind you'll know what I mean

The brake cables come out at a funny angle...

A normal brake for comparison:

Notice how the brake cable "sticks out" much more on the FAST?

Who's gonna even notice that when the rider is on the bike.

That's a very nice bike - and much nicer than the boxy 2013 Trek frames.

Good question  It was much more noticeable on the shop bike because they had the front brake routed to the right lever, producing a sort of S with the cable. I personally think that for an aero bike the cable routing on the brakes is a fail

Ok i thought that was what you talking about, but it must be due to the cable going in Vertically on the old style brake than horizontally in new style but, agree with you to a certin extent.

Have been reading they are on the heavy side(the frame) :?:

"Proper" aero road bikes aren't as light as bikes made for strength to weight. period.

Where does such a newbie come up with all these theories.. from rims, to hubs, to spokes to brake cables, and even Aero. Not having a go at you, just amazed that someone who only recently knew very little about wheels now seems to have definitive stand points all on things bike..

Its called too much time on the interweb and not enough time cycling  I had over two months off the bike, so I spent this time taking a wheel building course, working at my LBS and just generally reading up about cycling 8)

I say that the aero frames aren't as light as "lightweight" frames because aero frames are (generally) in the low 1000s whilst "lighweight" frames are coming in at below 800g... I don't see how it takes rocket science to work out that "lightweight" frames will be lighter...

My dad posted that because he wasn't convinced of me getting a fixie (as posted in the post)... I let him use my account because it didn't seem to be worth making a new account just for the one question. Now are we going to talk about FAST bikes or about my post history?

I was at the LBS today, and they put a small sized Noah FAST (equipped with 2013 Red and Fulcrum Racing 1) on the scale, it weighed in at 6.6kg, so its clearly not THAT porky...

ok, thanks for that ,what colour was it?. Will have to jump on the scale while holding my Dale. Have never bothered finding out how much it weighs.

Cheers again.

Anyone else think this looks like a DengFu FM098 with Ridley stickers on it?

Well, perhaps a different fork for the brakes.

It was the Black with Red scheme

@Howzat, I think the FM098 is a Venge copy
