Frame purchase enquiry

Postby A-Style » Tue Dec 11, 2012 8:52 am

Hi guys,

Briefly I am in the market for a new bike and have decided to pick and choose my groupset, wheels components, frame, etc as opposed to buying a complete bike from a retailer.

This in itself may cause issues for me but its the preference I prefer.

Therefore, if I was to allocate $3k to $3.5k to frame only what kind of frame would I be getting?

I figure based on my research so far that I would be able to obtain something above average?

Like to hear some thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

What type of bike?
What material?
How long a piece of string?

Buy a De Rosa.
I ride 25s on the basis that they divide more easily into 100 than 23s.

Funny you mention that...

I am thinking of geting De Rosa Merak Evo and building it up with Campy SR.

At that price you can secure a mid/high range highly regarded brand name carbon fibre frame (if that is your thing).. Might even be able to score a titanium frame

You should be able to get a Specialized S-Works Roubaix or Tarmac if a road bike is what you are after They are around $3.5K
