Wheel manufacturers would love that. Used by date = more sales :)

But given the severity of the consequences of a wheel falling apart, there is not much other choice but to have one methinks.

All fine, not indicating flex rather as I understand really the physical fit of the wheel with certain frames.

A couple of blokes in my old club had trouble fitting sub9 disc wheels in their tt frames. P3 and trinity I think they were.
