Well done to all the FULL COLOURED BARS.

This is best I could manage so far this year, (I will get 6000) :
Count: 118 Activities
Distance: 5,770.02 km
Time: 217:19:35 h:m:s
Elevation Gain: 41,302 m

Niggling back & flue mid year are the excuses.
I'll try for a slower group as the bike shop rides are mostly athletes, its just not enjoyable being dropped most times. :(
Take extra care around the Xmas break.
Cheers
Brent :D

I will be heading off to Mingenew in a couple of weeks. that means that my distances are likely to drop off over Christmas and into the new year. Which puts a small risk that I will not make my revised target. Well, until I logged my last nine days this morning anyway.

I am pretty chuffed to see the effect of a very solid couple of weeks. I see that I am not far out of the top 800 in bike journal which, for this late in the year, is way above my normal. I now pray for a really bleak snowy northern christmas to keep those damned yanks in doors until next year.

I now have a miniscule distance to get to the target. I expect to get there early next week. Anything after that is gravy.

Thanks to all those who give me an encouraging cheerio every morning and those that stop for a brief chat to break the monotony. I trust that you are also going to celebrate a great year.

Now log off, get out there and ride. And ride. And ride. 8)

Congrats. :) It is now OK for you to start an early Christmas. Eat lots, drink lots, let the bike sleep in for a few weeks.

Thanks Lisa :) .

I've signed up for the Festive 500, so hopefully I might be able to squeeze another 600kms out of the year all being well.

I'm getting close. I've got to admit I'm pretty pleased with myself in my first full year of cycling, especially as I hardly did any riding for about 6 weeks before Dad died.

I'm signed up too, knowing that I will fall short of the 500 goal but am keen to get over the 75% point. No holidays for me except for the public holidays and weekend, I will be riding before work and then commuting home on my work days to give the total a boost.

Mr MM has holidays so he will smash it

150ks to get to my revised total..

Contemplating the Rapha 500, as i have work i'll have limited opportunities so i'm thinking Coolum to Kilcoy and back is 210k, Coolum-Maleny-Conondale-Brooloo-Coolum is 220k and then i only have 70k to do here and there. Maybe.... :)

Geez, lots of people getting over the line, well done to you all. I'm hoping the revised target goes tomorrow, should be easy enough.

I agree Colin, hope for a nice cold festive season up north. I won't be riding Friday and after next week I'm off work for a month which means minimal or no riding. I want to stay in the top 1,000 but they will have 10 days to make it up on me. As usual I'll start the year well behind the red triangle but I'm thinking I'll aim for 6,800 next year and see if I get to revise it again.

I'm in a similar boat, working through the holiday week, but I'm planning to make lemonade and commute to work on those days - and my commute is a 112km round trip :), so the rest should be easy

I daresay your revised total is toast!

Nice work Grant! It's a nice feeling.

Good work DaveOz, Lovemybike and mustang - well within striking distance now. Johndec good chance you will be there this week, sorry to hear you lost your father this year; hope next year is a much better one.
oldnewby wrote:well done coffee&wine, congrats on the 6k. you and I are leapfrogging each other on bike journal every few days (my name is nath2827), will be interesting to see where the year ends up :)
congrats again!
I reckon there is a good chance the year will end up at December 31 :) but is that a challenge? I think we also have very similar vertical gain as well.

I must say a big thank you to the Gods of Pneumatic Tyres, who on my ride home tonight allowed my disfigured rear to burst on the way down my driveway at home, not my way down the driveway at work

Loving the fact that there are loads of people in here that have already hit their targets. Well done those people. And to the stragglers, myself included, keep at it. :)

326 for me Dave - I did 20kms this morning and would have kept going if I hadn't had to turn up at work sometime!

I really appreciate the encouragement from everyone here because at the start of this month I honestly thought I wouldn't get there - I feel like I might now. Fingers crossed.

Good riding this weekend everyone!
