Who's keen?... I am hoping to clock over 100,000 meters by the end of the year. Think I might aim for 200,000 next year .

Maybe, if I could ride more. My average has just dropped below 1% but I'll fix that before the end of the year. Should hit 60,000 by the end of the year.

Better than my average!... but I have to do 25-30kms of flattish stuff before I get to the bumps . Chuck wrote:toolonglegs wrote:Who's keen?... I am hoping to clock over 100,000 meters by the end of the year. Think I might aim for 200,000 next year .

177,061 for me this year .... Unluckily to crack the 200,000 for this year but will make it a target for next year and see .... TTL, surely with all those hills around you it could be done

Garmin or smart phone meters?
If its the latter of course you need to take the yearly total with a ginormous grain of salt. So much so that I would not even bother personally.
But if you already have a yearly total and you are using the same device again, then its a fair and reasonably accurate comparison.
Good luck!!!

Talk about putting a dampener on any initial chance of being remotely competitive (groan). I'll have to find a category cos cheating is not on, is it? Oh! well! Plod along to a christmassy tune... Ching-a-ling, ding-a-ling, pedal and push....

It was like that a year or so ago... but these days I find my phone gives me pretty much the same as the guys I ride with using a Garmin ( on some cyclosportives it has given me exactly what the organizer's have said there would be, where as the garmins were out. Yeah, but like I said, I have to do 30kms pretty much flat each way to get to the start of the big hills proper... as much as I would love to do 100km rides every day I don't think I could handle it . Gassy wrote:Trying to get to 200,000 this year. still got a bit of work to do but finished work today. It's only a bit of fun... personally I just want to double what I have done this year however I measure it, hopefully a couple of good 20-30,000 m months in summer will make it possible, cause after yesterdays effort I accept I won't get many meters up in Winter .

I like the sound of that. Mind you, 4000 meters on 2 rides a week might be a struggle.

I might have a crack, I've got just over 10,000m climbed in the last 29 days so it could be doable

It does sound like a lot. I've only managed 4500+ once this year and that was the Marmotte in France. Even the ACE250 comes in around 4200. I'll probably be back to around 150,000 next year. I had a trip to France this year which helped with winter motivation and added a few more meters.

When my new Garmin & aux power supply pack arrives I'll probably be in for a different challenge in 2013....never been bothered with bike computer gadgets too much but it'll give me different goals on the bike. I'm not averse to a bit of climbing, the ACE250 has always been a favourite of mine and I love passing most other (younger) riders that I encounter on any hill. Mind you I won't put up much for Jan/Feb as I'll be in Paris/France for a few weeks.

Adelaide. I spend all my time on my road bike riding hills. The other 4 days a week I just commute. Tuesday and Thursday I cover around 1300m (1000m morning, 300m lunch) and if I get my Sunday ride it is between 1500m and 2000m for that ride. Tuesdays and Thursdays are between 80-100km in total. Sundays are 90-120km. I enjoy riding hills and live close to them so 4500 is achievable for me

I'm surprised how much the rolling hills around here accumulate on strava. Not sure it's at all accurate given my garmin sometimes climbs on a stationary trainer but I spose everyone gets the same boost
