Na, you can find the Benotto's in isle 3 in between the farkyourbriftershite & stickurstravaupyabutt, past all the toy carbon bikes.

Bet this one will P all the serious 'cyclists' off.

Ok, I'll be at Browning St West End by 6am, standard Raturday Riverloop, be departing at 6.15am.

Anyone else wants to come, feel free, if not I'll just ride on my own, no problemo's.

Final news, I've emailed my seller in Spain, virtually going to give him an ultimatum, either send the damn bike or refund the money, hopefully he refunds the cash & I'll be buying the other Benotto, this is now my preference, I really don't want the Razesa, I'd rather just have a 2nd Benotto.

I can't come but should be good for the following raturday. I'm on school holidays now so if anyone is doing a monday-friday ride, I would be interested.

The latest email from Espana is that the frame is on it's way.

So, I still want this other Benotto frame, therefore something has to go, so if anyone is interested in my (ex-munga's) Repco Superlite frame or a Razesa then I'll be happy to negotiate. I don't want to go out buying yet another gruppo & I really have to start putting a cap on the amount of bikes I have here.

There has been photos published of the Superlite but I can put more up or show the bike in the flesh to anybody interested, both will be frames, headset & forks, the Razesa has a fairly worn Zeus seatpost & allegedly a 'new' quill stem, I'll know more once the bike lobs here.

Well I guess the Razesa is on it's way.

The latest email from last night-----

buenas amigo ya le envie el cuadro, le pido mil disculpas por como a ido todo , por eso le e regalado accesorios como pedales automaticos , botellero y palancas de cambio para cuadro , de verdad que acepte mis disculpas

le mando numero de seguimiento

Translated---

good friend and I sent the box, I ask as to apologize for everything gone, so he and gifted accessories like clipless pedals, bottle and box shifters for, really accept my apologies

I send tracking number

So I guess that I'll have some other stuff to shift, I'm still looking at selling atleast 1 bike off, I guess it'll be either the Superlite or if anyone wants a Repco Vantage touring bike, the vantage is a runner, it's my spare commute bike, recently had the bb replaced, so it's been a resto job except for paint, rides just like you would expect a touring bike to.

I'll work out whether I want to sell the Razesa when it arrives, unless someone out the just has to have this piece of Spanish cycling. Razesa evidently built the frame for Zeus, so we're not talking some lame low end backyard builder here, these guys had/have some serious pedigree.

it's all a haze. not sure if we were sinking the boot in a bit today or if i was just being a slacker..

strava tells me to eat more concrete.

i sat up the back on the shogie bear chatting to whomever felt sorry for me.
retroman came up from tweed heads with his newly restored gitane with superbe/superbe pro/record. looks gorgeous mate, and we hope you'll be along for another ride soon.
funnybike fronted with a modern steelie - can't remember which brand (had frogs on it).
elantra and the doublex
wal on his vertex
zynster dropped in post-ride on his groovy old workhorse.

i was the only one rocking brifters today, and i didn't feel bad for a second.

RIVERLOOP RATURDAY

2013

And f*ck your brifter shite, we're real men.

Hey I like it, it has a certain silliness to it & that seems to be the whole focus of our rides. Maximum siiliness.

I fitted my retro Repco with briftershite, so I guess I won't ever be riding Retro Raturday.
What is it with cycling? 30+ kmh and lycra???!!!

It's a personal preference thing, I personally don't think that you should spoil a nice retro bike by fitting brifters, I've proved that you can run very modern D/T shifting, I have one bike that's 9 speed D/T, the next one will be 10 speed D/T.

So how much disadvantage am I at by running D/T shifting? Maybe a couple of seconds over 10kms, for the sake of classic looks, I'm prepared to live with that.

Just because you choose to run brifters doesn't mean you're not welcome, we've had modern bikes on the ride, in fact I've ridden my single speed track bike & it's a 2010 model.

That's the first rule of the Raturday ride, there ain't no rules.

What you do with your bike is up to you, my attitude about brifters on retro bike is my opinion, I'm entitled to that, if your opinion is different to mine, that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion & I'll defend your right to have that opinion, your opinion is right to you & that is all that matters, my opinion is right to me & I'm comfortable with that. That's what makes the world an interesting place, we're all just that little bit different from each other.

Oh & no matter what you hear, I'm really not a nice person, anyone that tells you that is either misguided or telling ya fibbies.

Hi! 8)

Yeah I know, I'm getting soft  , changing from 8 speed friction to 9 speed indexed, think I'm hanging around munga & Dan too much (they're real sissies, they run f...f...f....f....brifters  ), I did have all intention to run it friction, but the Dura Ace stuff runs so nice that it's just that easy to run it indexed, the Benny is going to be 10 speed friction, the Superbe Pro gruppo I have here is friction, now that could go on the Superlite, the Razesa or I really think I need that Benny Cadre frame I've been offered, then I still have the Campy Triomphe gruppo, that's also friction. :P

See I'm not getting that soft (hey leave out, I'm 50 very soon, ain't I allowed to get a little soft in me old age  ).

Hang about munga, I think you spread that rumour, ya farkin' big liar. [runs around singin' "liar, liar, pants on fire"]

mike, i think what wal's trying to say is that you're welcome to come along no matter what your drivetrain preference.

Accepting indexed shifting is the first step.

It's a slippery slope... Especially once you discover the engineering marvel that is the Ergopower.

Campy brifters?

Obi Won Kenobi once told me "beware of the dark side young jedi, the call of the dark side is strong but you must resist", then I actually saw how 'reliable' campy brifter systems are, Ben you wasted your breath warning me, late model campy, na I'd rather stick red hot needles into my eyeballs. Oh, before you all jump up & down, shaking fists, swearing, sticking needles into vodoo doll likeness' of moi , the sram crankset I've fitted to the Verty is as close as I'll ever get to running any late model sram road gear on any of my bikes, as they have a great level of 'reliability' too.

Shim stuff is ok (yep except for the issues that the 7900 gruppo's have), but riding with any brifters is just plain boring, it doesn't interest me.

So slippery slope, yep, there's a bloke in the US that modifies the 7700 D/T shifters to 10 speed, so there's a possibility that somewhere down the track, I build something with DA 10 speed D/T shifting.

Also would like to get hold of (borrow/steal, buy really cheap) a shim Di2 (Ui2 even) gruppo, I'm thinking of swapping out the brifters & fitting micro switches under/over a set of D/T shifters, so it would be electric D/T shifting, that will have to wait until people start upgrading the current system & the price drops heaps (farking expensive exercise if it don't work).
