Rear derailleur rubbing casette

Postby peterhh » Wed Dec 19, 2012 11:00 am

Just starting to get back into biking - haven't riden for some 10 years. Naturally there were a few small repairs to do to my bike to make it operational.

One issue I have is my rear derailleur is rubbing against the cassette with one of its chain cogs, and leaving noticeable marks on the derailleur (cause its plastic). The derailleur is frame mounted, without the mounting attachment.

I actually had paid someone to fit the derailleur some 10 years ago, but that shop unfortunately no longer exists.

Shimano docs actually suggest the combination of parts I have... cassette is MF-HG37 and the derailleur is RD-TX70

Is there anything I'm missing?

Hi peterh,

This should help you out. http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/techd ... 609167.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You to turn the B tensioner adjuster screw clockwise until the top sprocket isn't touching the cassette.

This website is great for rear derailleur work. pics included
