No. Keeping one wheel tracking to where I wanno go is tough enough. With two wheels it would just mean that I would come unstuck a lot more. I don't know how you guys do it!
sblack wrote: So how many hours does that equate to for you?
About 750 hrs of actual riding time. The time is what limits what can realistically be done. But have a look at Perry aka Cavebear2 - As he does so much of his riding in Audax, by my reckoning he is on the bike around1200 hrs a year or more!

I have a wireless trip meter - holds two sets of readings and an accumulating total. Though I just use it for logging and to occasionally see what sort of avg I do so I can get a guage of time spent over the year.
Ha, you have nothing to worry about from me, I won't be passing the KMs you have today.

By the way, well done on 7,500 on the bike with a missing wheel, great effort.

Fell over the line yesterday and I've got to admit that going for a 5 km ride 18 months ago that nearly killed me to over 6000 km in a year, well, I'm pretty pleased with myself  Thank you cycling for giving a form of exercise that my 50 year old battered knees and ankles could live with ( too many years as a young fella playing footy ) . But the biggest thank you must go to you guys for giving me the drive to lose 25 kg, ride 6000 km and massively lighten my wallet :D

Nice work John; I can identify with much you have written!!!!

When I got back in to cycling a few years back, I started with a ride of around 5km (can still recall where I had to walk the bike uphill); 10km around the mount was a LOOOOONG ride. Haven't managed to drop as many kg (awesome effort) but have lightened the wallet a bit (ordered new wheels yesterday :D :D :D )

Great work so far. What are your goals for 2013?

To do at least 1 km more than I do this year!! OK, to be serious, lose another 3 kg to get my BMI under 25. Spend no more money on bikes, I already own 3 1/2 bikes, the half is an old steelie I'll fix up one day. Of course if Campy bring out the promised EPS Athena, disregard the no more money spent bit :D

Getting fit and healthy from a low base can be remarkably fast, if the subject pushes a fair bit beyond comfortable.

So a year in, pushing beyond comfort and you have 6,000km under the belt. Excellent outcome. :D Keep it going (as if you need to be told) and gently spread the word to some mates as well.

Seriosuly well done and congrats on the weight loss!

I'm in the same boat as you - started riding middle of last year and this year cracked the 6k mark. Really wish I could say the same about the weight though! Mine hasn't shifted much (maybe 2-3kg). Must be something to do with the rubbish I eat! People say I'm thinner and I now take L shirts instead of XL so I guess there's been a change in body composition. I agree wholeheartedly on the wallet. It's taken a pounding this year.

May next year reverse the weight loss ratio between myself and my wallet!

Well done Johndec, Ozkaban and Mugglechops. Doesn't matter if it's 25, 2-3 or 4 kg that you've lost, I'm sure you all feel better for it.

Oh joy of joys, and stuff you Santa.

Went out at 6am to do a different 50km ride to normal. Went really hard and tried to better some new segments. Got home with an average of 30.4kph for 53kms. Very happy. Plugged the Garmin into the USB cable an the hub flashed and all the lights went off. Crap. Unplugged it. Hub still dead. Ah bloody hell. Plug the Garmin straight into the iMac. Go to Strava. Can't find GPS device. Oh oh. After much rooting around, I get the Garmin to show up, but this mornings FIT file is zero kilobytes. Faaarrrrkkk!!!!!

Long story short, I lost that ride! The USB hub is shot. Merry Xmas Mr Norbury.

Such was my rage that after I ate breakfast and made a couple of calls, I went out with fire in my more than ample belly and did the same ride again.

I am pretty sure that equates to over 100km averaging 30kph+ Pity I have bugger all proof.

That sucks Norbs. Log the ride in Strava manually, no reason you should lose that 50km!
