Black cat yesterday and my rear tyre had this huge cut in it. Must have run over a piece of metal or big lump of glass. Tyre is cactus unfortunately. The tyre had plenty of life left in it.

+1, 26.

There's about .5mm of rubber left on the rear tyre, but a piece of glass got stuck in it and just nicked the tube. I pulled the glass out, put a tube in and stuck the CO2 inflator on. And when I unscrewed it, there was this enormous 'woosh', because the valve had unscrewed from the stem. So, I put the valve back in and used my tyre levers on the flats on the valve to do it up as tight as I could, then carefully put the inflator on loosely and gassed it... and when I carefully removed the inflator there was another "woosh". I put a different tube in at that point, swearing as I dug through the bottom of my backpack and found another co2 cart. Twenty minutes to get back on the road - I reckon I could hear that bloody fairy laughing at me as I finally rode off.

* I rode this same route yesterday... there was at least three patches of glass today that weren't there yesterday morning. I am very unimpressed with the locals.

Guess I have to break the duck for the year - whilst on observing the tyre I have had about 4 penetrations on the rear tyre and 1 on the front the sealant has done its job on them all and my progress to and from work has been unhindered. About 6k from home the other week I rode over a stick and punched a 5mm hole through the rear intensive, canvas was starting to show through in places so it was overdue for replacement. Seeing as I dont have a tube nor patches nor a CO2 canister with me these days I called the sag wagon and got a lift home to replace the tyre in peace.

So 0 + 1 = 1
Go the tubeless 2 incidents now in 11k both on very worn tyres.

had the most scary'est blow out so far,

front tyre leant over 25km/h through corner at lights, tyre has blown and i'm all over the road, gone on the wrong side of the road trying to get my feet out of the peddles, finally come to a stop! 2 minutes before i was belting down a hill at 60 plus! thank god it didn't happen then!

so that's now 3 for the year, and 2 tyres :)

And on my last commute of the year...

Similar thing last year, front rim hit the ground as I tried to corner at 35kph, straight across in front of a car in the slip lane, then across two lanes of road and stopped against the centre island of the intersection. Took a few minutes for the HR to come down, my timing was very lucky... 80kph road I went across.

I've got some track racing, but I've only punctured once on the track, when I ran over a bike at 50kph

I fitted a new rear tyre on Wednesday night, because on the way home on Tuesday, some ahole failed to give way and with the resulting rear-wheel lockup I ripped about 10cm of tread off the tyre. So... that should reduce my puncture probability.

Looks like coffee is on me at this point.

You will have to be very unlucky - and I'm aiming for three hours per day from Wednesday onwards.

I fixed a puncture yesterday... but it was for the mate I was riding with.

That will give you good karma

I'm afraid I need to report that my tyres are still looking perfectly round, so its looking likely you will be awarding 2012 to yourself in 5 days

And I provided the same mate with a tube, CO2 and tyre levers today after he punctured and discovered he hadn't put the correct saddle bag on the bike. It did have a tube... but it had a big split in it. We were only ten minutes from his house, so we RTB'ed and sorted the spares.

107km today... no flats. Another 100km planned for tomorrow.

Didn't ride over any bikes track racing last night, but there's still 3 more nights of racing this year...

Between my two trikes and my boys trike (all with 20" wheels), we've yet to have an actual puncture, despite riding over some seriously questionable terrain. The only repairs I've done are to recycled tubes from the tip-finds I build from, and a rear 20" on a friend of my boys (tyre worn right through to the tube... I gave him an old-ish tyre I wasn't planning on using to get home on too).
Are road tyres more prone to flats than others, or is it simply the insane amount of K's you guys ride?

A tiny contact patch (to support the bike and rider) plus 100+psi makes it much easier for glass to penetrate.

I ran over the remains of a bottle at speed yesterday (running late) then while sitting waiting for my mate to arrive I went over the rear tyre and found a piece of glass right in the centre of the tread. Another puncture averted.

Ironically a rider had 2 flat tyres (different rear wheels) last night at the track event, but I'm still safe on one less flat than Twizzle...

+1 for a total of four for the year.
A big rusty wire stuck in the rear tyre.

Four punctures on four different bikes!

Another flat this morning after 30 minutes chasing down a mate, passed him only to get the flat 50 meters later. That makes it 13 this year, hopefully I wont add to this tally on the way home this evening.

Last race tonight at Dunc Grey Velodrome, which is wooden, so unless I get a splinter, the winner is.....

Nothing to add for ages while running my Tufo's but when back to crunchers due to the high year rate from all the glass cutting them up.

Got a slow leak today so can add +1
