This Efneo drive looks like it might develop into a competitor for the Schlumpf drives. Would be nice if brought the prices down.

The Pinion does not appear to the same as the Schlumpf or the proposed Efneo. It looks more like it is a competitive to say a Rohloff and in that context looks interesting.il padrone wrote:When it comes to "front gearboxes" the one that does it all is Pinion and it is in production now.
The idea of the Schlumpf and Efneo is to extend the range of the rear hub/derailluer with a planetary gearing system. A Schlumpf with a Rohloff is a serious option for myself. More so given it has a bit of a track record with trikes.

Well it's no biggie for the Pinion you just need a whole new frame to cater for itil padrone wrote:When it comes to "front gearboxes" the one that does it all is Pinion and it is in production now.
Schlumpf and Efneo suit standard Bottom Brackets.

But a pretty straightforward process to build a frame to suit it - simply build around the Pinion mount rather than a normal BB.Baalzamon wrote:Well it's no biggie for the Pinion you just need a whole new frame to cater for it
Time will tell how many builders adopt it but it has significant advantages for a touring bike.
