Currently doing up an older bike to turn to single-speed
Was going to put my spare wheels on, Front wheel goes on fine. But rear wheel won't fit in.
The old wheel was a 5 speed, And the new one a 10 speed road bike hub.
I could probably file down the dropouts. But I would like to use the old wheel.
It has a strange freewheel that I have never seen before.
Here are some pics.
What Freewheel is this?

Yup looks like a Maillard to me. Good luck finding a removal tool, the only one I've seen recently is mine and I bought it back in the 1980's.vaeske wrote:someone correct me if i'm wrong, but could be a 14 or 15 splined maillard freewheel...a few people on the forums will have this freewheel remover. alternatively you could buy one off fleabay for around $15 + postage, or throw it out... bloody froggies have to make showtime hard for everyone!!!

Yep, maillard, very jealous of Richard having a tool. I've had to remove several of these from hubs, all by the dismantling method.
