it will depend on how the crit racing goes as well!

You??
It changes every day! Sometimes I think I can do more and sometimes I wonder how I did any this year. I'm still deciding :-)

Well done Julie, an impressive finish indeed. Not too many people left now to reach their goals? Whose still got their final few kilometres left? My revised target of 8000 is going to go down to the last day or two.

Thanks Shane - I've really appreciated your encouragement this year and enjoyed reading your ride reports - good luck with next year and congratulations on your kms this year!

A bout of gastro meant 4 days off the bike. Went for a ride today but 10k short of 6,000 - should knock that off tomorrow.

I think that's me done for the year.

Hurt my calf muscle today with a stupid fall off the bike. :(

Probably best I rest it.

I hope you're ok Greg. I've had a week off the bike spending time with family so my Rapha 500 was an epic fail but I have enjoyed the rest. Might go for a ride today.

Well done to everyone that's made their target for the year.

Dave, after the year you've had just the fact that you considered doing the Rapha 500 means it wasn't an "epic fail"! Roll on 2013 :-)

You're right Julie. Today we had to visit my Wife's Aunty in Fitzroy Falls so she took the kids and rode there. 50km round trip on a beautiful day. 8)

I ust updated my log which is not as great as I had hoped pre-Xmas. But still I should make 7,800 by new year. :D

And I am, for a few brief moments, inside the top 800!

Sounds perfect :-) I'm working all weekend but still continuing my ride every day in December goal - short rides though. The pressure is off now I'm over 6k.

Good one Colin :-)

I clocked over 1000km for the month today and near as dammit to 10000m climbed. So that's 6639km for the year :D.

Had a great time on Shane's audax dirt ride down Meryla Pass, conditions were much more humane than when we did the recon earlier in the month and the recent rain had altered the terrain a bit, firming up the sandy sections and reducing the dust so it was pleasant riding through the bush capped off with an MTB paceline for the last few kms to the Barrengarry store.

Driving home via Mac Pass there were heaps of cyclists out enjoying the fine weather and I confess to feeling a bit guilty having only ridden 37km. So, when I got home after docking the garmin and hanging out the washing, I went for another 68 odd kays on the road bike. That's the third, and definitely the last day, this week when I've ridden over 100kms. After today that leaves only 30kms to go on the festive 500 :)

Sorry for the cross post...

Did 130 today leaving 66 for the Rapha but being the tragic that I am I want 86 so that my monthly total for December will be 1500k.

I'm going to be seeing the monthly bar in my Strava profile all year and I know the sense of achievement will remain long after the legs will have recovered!

Good luck everyone with your totals as this year winds to a close.

It's all good Dave. I think I just corked it. Still a bit sore so I am having a few days off the bike.

My December total was 680km.

Just snuck my total in.

Was wondering why it was not updating so I ended up putting in a climbing target on statmonkey and it's all good!

Happy trail to you.....

Just want to say a big thanks to DaveOZ for his help today. Was great to ride with someone who has overcome some pretty rough times with his health and gets out there and bangs out a hundred with out too much trouble.

Thanks Dave!

Cracked a cold beer to celebrate sneaking past 6,000 km for the year, with a lovely ride through the Macedon foothills - nice winding tree lined roads through rolling hills.

Not sure if I will get to add to it tomorrow, but it sure feels nice to have set a goal & achieved it. Now to ponder next years target - needs to be achievable but a stretch. Don't have any more time to spend on the bike so will have to work on being faster.

How does 6,500 k in the same time as this year sound?

Lol, I remember that, haven't heard that phrase of late but looking at your total for the year that's what you've been doing!

My year is done.
Rapha challenge completed with 523k's for 7 days, 219 in the last 2 days

For December I did a massive 1505 k's including gaining 7 QOM's.
My total for the year fell short of the 10k at 9864, but I'm so happy with this year that I really don't mind! I think that is around 3000 extra k's compared to last year.

One goal for the year that I didn't achieve was to do a imperial century ride, but it's not too far away from happening.
I also started crit racing which I swore I'd never do...

Thanks to all you 6kers for the support and encouragement, good luck if you're gotta get out tomorrow to get your goal accomplished.

Cheers mate. Thanks for your support and kind words. It means a lot for my mental recovery to be able to ride like I used to. I had a great day today. Congrats on cracking 30 x 100+km rides for 2012, thats a great achievement in itself.

Was good to catch up with Lewy and Sam for lunch.

Just sat down to a nice cold beer. 8)

Thats my riding done for 2012, I'm off to Sydney tomorrow to watch the festivities with my family. Happy New Year to you all and have a safe and healthy 2013.

My goals this year revolved around getting into racing and the 6000km target was an unknown to me. I'm actually so close to last years 6666km that I'll probably try and knock that off tomorrow morning.
There's a few pre race warm ups that i didn't record so I'm probably over the 6666 anyway but unless it's on Strava it doesn't count :)

firstly (again), a big thanks to everyone on this thread for helping me achieve 6k in my first year of cycling. I've enjoyed 2012 immensely, and only hope the addiction continues! Coffee&wine, grantw, bosvit, sblack - been good sharing banter & encouragement from you guys, and with everyone else! colinoldcranky, wow, you are a bloody legend - 7800km on a unicycle, I can't fathom that - well done! daveoz, fantastic effort on the year you've achieved in light of getting over a serious health problem - hopefully 2013 is a smoother year for you. norbs, thanks for running the show, and creating a place for us 6kers to 'gather'! lovemybike & marinmomma, well done ladies on achieving your goals!

I did get a couple of decent rides in the last week to finish the year off. 149km on Sat, including 4 different ways up Mt Dandenong. And 76km during the week, from Traralgon to Rawson and back. So here's how my month & year finished off:

December rides - 20 (year 156)
December km - 805.4 (year 6634.98)
December meters climbed - 12452 (estimate year 80000 ish - only had strava since mid Oct)

Highlights from 2012 - Audax Alpine Classic 130km, Around the Bay 210km, Kinglake 125km, Riding with Simon Gerrans on Eastlink, last Sat Mt Dandenong x 4.
Lowlights - none. Enjoyed every single ride, and looking fwd to 2013 :)

Ditto Oldnewby and congratulations and thank you :-)

I did my last ride for the year this morning and despite the festive glass it was very enjoyable. I rode every day in December and made it to 800kms for the month and to 6k for the year. Like Oldnewby said - thank you everyone for the encouragement and congratulations on all the riding done this year and enjoy plenty of safe riding in 2013. Happy New Year!
