Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013Is there a set amount of km's to do?.
I will be drinking pints for the first few days of Janvier
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013im pretty sure theres no minimum, though you get ' badges ' starting from 200miles all the way up to 1000.
im just interested to see what kind of mileage people are prepared to do, and if they do it around their jobs etc.
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013It's as simple as ....
Smash as many miles as you can during the month of January. There are milestone badges to be earned starting at 200 miles and going all the way up to 1,000 miles. Matt
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013I'm going to the TDU ... Could be a big month for me
Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013TDU for me too, plus in Hervey Bay from tomorrow for a week or so with the bike coming with me.
Are you going down for the entire TDU Comedian or just some of it and the Bupa Challenge? Problem is with Hervey Bay it is camping with mates... somehow I have to get up early in the morning after a night on the grog! 2013 Bupa Challange at the Tour Downunder - 25th of Jan 2013 - Raising money for the Cancel Council - bit.ly/YzLYG3

Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013Miles? I thought the 'rules' state that everything be measured in km?
I'm aiming for 500km in January!
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013I'm aiming for 2000-3000km. Did the 500km this week with ease so it should be doable
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013Out of interest do you guys cycle every day or do you have a rest day in between?
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013I have 2-3 big ride days each week, 3 commute only days, and I also ride on the seventh but it is a type of riding where you don't track kays - BMX freestyle.
When I ride two big days a week I hit 200km, if I get a third it is 300+. All are climbing kays, 2500m up for two days, 4500+ for three. I could probably ride 4-5 days a week without issue, at least in the short term, but I enjoy riding BMX (where I don't track kays) more than I enjoy riding my roadie. Road bikes (and big climbs) are just a thoroughly enjoyable fitness activity and challenge for me.
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013I've done 570 and will probably get close to 650 for December, so would definitely like to crack 6-700Km again in January and this is a good way to keep the motivation up.
Might get a few mates together and do a few nice rides in Melbs. cheers 'dale CAAD10 - Ultegra6700 | Giant Defy 1 - DA7800
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013I always thought you should have a rest day in between. I guess this is how you build up big numbers!
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013
About 5 to 6 days a week usually. I alternate between faster/longer rides and shorter/slower ones (eg, 30km at 25km/h average speed). As long as it isn't burning hot or pouring down raining (or thundering) I'll head out for a ride whenever I can, I love it. I might join up - but I head back to work on the 14th January so that might play havoc with plans. Trek Madone 4.5, Giant TCR Advanced SL3 ISP Di2 (the green machine)
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013I will probably sign up although I expect January will be a quieter month after the massive December that I'm currently finishing off and I will be off the bike for 4 days mid month as I travel without my bike...I'd be hoping for something around 7-800 ks

Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013
Depends on your fitness, how you ride (fast day 1/slow and relaxed - 25km recovery ride day 2. All at once or broken down to something longer in the morning with a short quick ride after work), your riding routine and if you ride with anyone else (group rides).
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013I have joined up for this and if everything goes ok, and I ride each day possible...and this simply being my commutes to work, I have got the potential to get between 2000-2500 k's for the month.
Should be fun.
Re: Strava Base Mile Blast - January 2013I am in with 31 miles putting me in 319th ... some start
