81km today, incl 40 km with Riggsbie, making 296km in 3 rides.
It was great meeting another forum member and a new experience riding with a recumbent trike.
The coffee and chatting was good.... It can't be anything but good when you put 2 bike nuts together!
De Grandi's sale unfortunately doesn't include bike gear.... Except for Campag gloves reduced from $150 to $75 (!!!!!!)

Just did a quick 30km - did a good pace as I was still annoyed about this morning's vanishing 60km! "Official" total now at 372km, unofficial (i.e. actual!) total now at 432km.

Garmin edge 500 is now on order, hopefully I'll avoid these annoyances in the future! :D

Thanks Damien and Ben for the kudos, you both did some great rides that really make me feel like an infant in this sport.

Today was a difficult morning with other commitments, so I didn't bother, it was either a rest day or afternoon ride. Weather was hot, then a cooler wind blew in, and a couple of hours were suddenly free. I wanted some easy kms, but wind was too much for the national park, which makes a smooth road a minefield. I did a simple ride to Olympic Park to Parramatta, did a couple of laps around the park there, then back to Olympic Park. Only added 53km, but its enough to knock this off in two of the three remaining days if all goes well.

Bit slow to catch on here...
Great idea... Won't make the 500 this year, but still doing some nice rides, including a 48km MTB ride today that smashed my quads...

Nice work on the miles folks...
Loving my Merida's and working towards adding a Pinarello to the stable... Go go go...

Today was another perfect riding morning in Sydney, little wind, not hot at all. Only my body has finally started to feel all this riding and today was a labourous ride. Lowlight was getting a flat less than 1km on the M4 for the first time, and worrying I'd get a 2nd flat and be done for the day, but that didn't happen. Knew it was tough, and hadn't prepared anything, so it was Olympic Park -> M4 -> M7 south for a bit -> M7 north -> Parramatta -> Olympic Park for a couple of laps and back to home for 103km. Only 70km left, which I hope to be up for early tomorrow, but I know I'm going to feel it during that ride.

Props those participating in Perth. The whole period has had forecasts of 39-42 with overnight mins in the mid twenties. I think it only made 37.5 degrees yesterday :-)

79km today makes 375km total. Two days to do 125km in perfect cycling country here on the Bellarine peninsula.
The only downside is the wind... No wonder there is a wind farm at the end of Thirteenth Beach- I did 23kph into the wind and 48kph with it behind me.
There were so many cyclists riding up and down the Main Street of Barwon Heads it was rivalling Melbourne's Beach Rd!

Did a repeat of yesterday's 'lost' ride this morning. Felt very tired indeed, body was not really up for it. Total now is 433 official, 493 actual. Will probably knock over the last 70km tomorrow and have a day off on NYE. It's been a lot of fun!

Yesterday morning was my hottest ride so far in the challenge. Averaged 35 C over the three hours or so.

Only 33km's to go thought the challenge ended tomorrow, at least starting at 5.30-6 in the morning has seen me missing most of the recent Perth heat.

The garmin said 44'C on Thurs about 6.5 hrs into the 190km ride... not sure it was that hot but I'd love to know how much water I've consumed over the past few days.

Took a rest day yesterday as a masive storm blew in shelving the plans for an afternoon river loop.
Out this morning and did 130ks, will be out again tomorrow to knock this thing on the head, will need only 66ks but want to do 86ks so that my December total will be at 1500ks making it my biggest month

Had planned to have it done by Sunday to take NYE off ready to ride on NYD to kick the new year off with a decent ride

Received a Rapha tee shirt for Christmas and I said that I wasn't wearing it until I'd completed the challenge...tomorrow should be the day!

And I am officially out.

Fever, mild temp of 37.8, aches and pains, runny nose, sore throat, puffy eyes.

I don't think I will be back on the bike for a couple of days now.

Day#6 - 79.6km

http://app.strava.com/activities/34503577" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Finished......strong southerly winds 30 - 40kph so definitely velomobile weather......another KOM snaffled up.....and a nice 32.2kph average......the headwind didn't slow me too much but when it was side on it was a little scary !!

What now ? A little 100km group ride down to Lorne !

I'm crawling towards the target,
did only 50km on the Alan cyclocross today, had a reading of 42 degrees on the Garmin with the cooling doctor blowing, bloody hot I say!

I have managed 4 rides now;
Christmas Eve 100km, Vintage Alan Cyclocross, 20km off road
Boxing Day 75km, Road bike
Friday 120km, Road bike
Saturday 50km, Vintage Alan Cyclocross

345km thus far
155km to go.

Will try and do 100km tomorrow on the roadie, another stinker forecast in paradise.

cheers
Sambo

Yesterday I started at 5:00PM, finishing a bit before 12:00AM - beautiful ride on a perfect night with a big orange moon and no wind on the return journey from S Yunderup Rd. I only saw 2 cyclists on the return journey of 87km (Fwy PSP)

Finished, 503km in a week, and the body is feeling it. All yesterday my left knee was sore when doing chores around the house, was hoping to sleep on it and wake up fresh today. It felt average, and in fact was sore on the bike when starting, but 15km in was feeling fine, we'll see how it goes today. Also started to get a sore bum, fortunately only the last day or so. The rest of the body is just worn down, but good. Very happy to have taken this challenge, I've ridden stacks of roads, paths and areas I'd been wanting to and capped it off today, with a nice run through the inner west, five dock, canada bay, lilyfield, then over the harbour bridge, couple of laps of the Lane Cove national park to fill in the last couple of kms, then made it home 3km over the marker:
