how do you get to a event

sorry but i got a dumb question i am new to cycling so i have not been to any cycling events yet .
so how do riders get to there events , drive ,train or get dropped off . why i ask i was looking at a ride in Brisbane like this http://www.tpchfoundation.org.au/News-a ... -2013.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and was thinking do i leave my car where it finishes and then get on a train to start .
so yeah just like to here how you guys do it .

Whatever best suits you mate. For me it depends on many things such as time constraints and what I'm doing before or after. If public transport to/from the event is an option like catching a train I'll try to use that. If I had work the previous day and got home late as a result I'd see if I could get dropped off so I could have a extra 20 or so minutes of sleep. Other events I'll ride 20km to the start, ride 100km and then ride back home.

I take it you live somewhere on the Gold Coast. Personally if I was you I'd drive to Carseldine Station to catch the chartered train to the start (as it will be a ~30-45 minute trip on the train depending on your starting point), complete the event, have a rest/something to eat/get some fluids into you and then take a slow relaxed ride back to Carseldine station (About 7km ~10-15 mins from the PCH depending on how fresh you legs feel ) to drive back home either though the city or via the gateway. I might be in that ride for the full 100km so I'll be riding to Carseldine station to get on the chartered train to Landsbrough station, pop over the road to the meeting point, ride the event and then ride the short distance back home.

Routes between the PCH-Carseldine Station. Both have dedicated bike lanes along Kittyhawke Drive and then a shared pathway from the lights to the roundabout.

A Queensland Rail private charter train will be running express from Roma St Station to Landsborough, stopping at Carseldine and Caboolture.

Depending on where you live in Brisbane I would probably bike it into Roma St and take this train to your desired start point.

Sounds like I ride I would be interested in if I lived in Brissy so have a good one and enjoy yourself.

Just noticed you are from the GG. Do the ride then and catch a train back to GG.

Usually if you're catching a train (what I'll be doing tomorrow morning) you'll have most of that stuff.... because you'll be riding your bike to the station.

Just need to remember the train ticket

I can fit a Kryptonite mini U lock and 2.5m cable in my 2.8l saddle bag.

Your not the only one. Got to the station once and went to unclip my helmet only to find there wasn't a clip to unclip Rode the 1.5km back home, grabbed my helmet and made a mad dash for the station. Just got to the platform as the train was rolling in.

Pretty sure the Gold Coast trains don't run that early to get to the Sunshine Coast for a 7am/8am start.

Edit: Double checked and the first Gold Coast train to Brisbane arrives at Roma Street Station just after 7am.
