Whoops, I asked a mate down the Coast to go and have a look if he had the time. He just phoned and I now own it. He reckons it looks like it's done hardly any work. He got it for $100.

I wonder just how big it is. I use a 60 cm but it might be a bit bigger than that I think. Cool

Short stem, short seatpost, short crankset, TdF bend bars, & you'll fit on it great.

In a way I'm happy that you got it, in a way very unhappy (yeah I think I really did want it & should have just bought it), but hey I really don't need every bike I take a liking too (no I don't, just have to keep reminding myself).

It's not old, but wow what a great way to kill the kids and with a top speed of 60 kph it'll result in reduced pedestrian numbers.
It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.

It doesn't get much wronger than that, on so many levels. :(

imagine that on a more aero funnybike. some basic head work and a better exhaust and you could be riding the motorway to work.

I know who would end up getting killed, 60kph with canti brakes?

Are you farkin' kidding me :?: :?: :?:

Would anyone in their right mind ride this (experienced cyclists I mean)?

In Qld, it is illegal to ride something like that, unless you are on private property, there is a certain speed (or power), over which it is not permitted on public streets (bike paths included), I know as I was looking into a 900 watt electric MTB conversion kit, but would only consider it with really good disc brakes, when I discovered it wouldn't be legal on the roads, the idea died.

Illegal as drink driving nationwide Wal. No way that'd fit into the 200/250watt limit for power assist bikes on public roads.
I had the misfortune to be passed by one of them on the Dynon Rd path last year. Seems the raucous exhaust is perfectly designed to leave a plume of blue vaporous filth up to head height for at least 500m before it disperses.

I was more considering what would happen in the hands of some teenager, either on a public road, with those brakes, or the legal result of cleaning up an errant pedestrian/cyclist/pram pushing mother/earbud wearing jogger on a shared pathway, you'd never stop in time from 60.

There have been a few fatalities hereabouts attributed to "cyclists", on those contraptions. All of the victims have been disqualified drivers it turns out.

Illegal to ride on public roads or cycleways (shared and otherwise), but unfortunately not illegal to sell.
Our politicians do us extremely poor service when they leave loopholes in the law like this - knowing full
well that they have not given the police the resources to enforce their sham laws.

The sooner they make them illegal to sell, import or distribute, the better.

No need for head work on a Two stroke. The performance on those things is proportional to the taper of the expantion chamber of the pipe to the ratio of the fuel air mixture. A long taper: high end speed! a short fat (usually the pipe of the baseball hat wearing, Meth addicted rider!) all tourque and noise. (SLOW) A competent `C` (4 u Munga) grade rider could wind up a legal 30cc bike kit with a long track 'Taper'-Cone' and get that engine to hold 80Klm's easy, till it blew up as the piston to skirt ratio on all those cheapy motors is thin. Therefore the idiots are generally short lived as their motor wont push them for long.

Nah, these small non 'scavenging ports' dont have the same abillity to be affected by a reed valve induction. Your RD 350 was a ' scavenging port induction' so the amount of 'air , fuel induction could be determined by the 'reed valve strength' And if you remember the profile of your pipe? small away from the head ito a long taper'd cone into a restricted baffle. Thats why it did'nt go anywhere under 4 grnd, lol.

I'm guilty of owning too many Italian jobs but a mate had a 350 RD. What a lovely bike, I'd even own one today. I wonder where they've all gone?

Aren't reed valves something used in the mouthpiece of bagpipes? :D

And on clarinets, saxophones etc. Very annoying when they split, makes a horrible noise.

I know Graecross made some ordinary stuff, but this looks like upper-end on their pecking order. For tall~ies; within reach of Sydney.
