Best 29er Fork in QR

Postby the-waves » Tue Oct 16, 2012 1:36 am

Hi all,

I have been riding my Karate Monkey y rigid for some time and am getting tired of the sore neck & wrists that go with riding a rigid setup.

Time for some suspension forks.

I am leaning towards a pair of Fox Racing Shox 2012 32 'Float 29' 80 RLC 29er Forks but would welcome all input if I am way of the mark.

If you are willing to pay the $$ then the Fox will probably be hard to beat overall. If you want to save some dollars you could check out lots of forks. The X-Fusion 26" forks have got pretty good reviews, so their 29" forks might be worth a look. I've got some Suntour Epicon 29er forks which I've yet to ride much, but they seem pretty good bang for buck. Lots of options for QR 29" forks.

Have used and can recommend Rockshox Rebas -
If youare aheavy rider 100kg plug the bigger FOX numbers may be worth a look but dont think they are available in QR

If the KM fork is the stock steelie then I'd also consider a carbon rigid rather than a slushie fork. Less weight than either the steel fork or a slushie so better handling & less work, some can be had that are quite compliant plus they are often cheaper than a slushie to buy and definitely cheaper to maintain...have a yarn to Larry at Larry's Custom Cycles - he's a rigid rider, bike customiser and a White Bros agent and might be able to offer you some options in either suspension or rigid carbon...
Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle

Either Fox, or DT Swiss has been making extremely good forks in the last 1-2 years, and 2013 will be sixk, and a few of the top mtb riders in the world race with DT Swiss.
