Superbe pro replacement hoods
Postby dayne » Fri Dec 28, 2012 10:53 am
It has superbe pro aero levers.
I have done a bit of googling but most threads are a few years old
My question is , Does any body know what modern hoods work well with these levers.

The cheap hoods available now that fit on standard Dia Compe, early Shimano and Weinmann type bodies do not fit properly on Superbe Pro. I used up my remaining Superbe hoods on Campagnolo levers over the last few years. They were a better quality hood than the Campagnolo version.
Modolo hoods were the best qulaity, and I preferred them on all three brands, but I have not seen any of these available for a while now.
Repro Campagnolo gum hoods are available, and probably the easiest thing to get, that will fit properly.

Apologies, and disregard everything I said about Campagnolo/Modolo compatibility etc.

I'm on the lookout for some non-aero hoods, so thanks for that!!

Great recommendation, they also fit "Suntour Sprint 9000 Aero Brake Levers" very well...very little difference to the originals, a good firm/snug fitting.
Ridgeway Cycles provided great service...hats off to Graham & Simon...rang up they sent me photos, rang back & ordered over the phone, they posted them to NSW.

Velobase tells me: "Suntour introduced the Sprint gruppo, price between Superbe Pro and Cyclone, to compete with Shimano 600 Ultegra. Suntour Sprint was splendid value, everything looked expensive and the finish was superbe."
So I'm guessing they're fairly similar, no? The top of the lever has some slots/indents and the hoods have matching ridges to fit.
On my cheapy train station bike I got generic Dia-Compe hoods and they keep slipping forward, away from the bars. I'm guessing the ridges on the Sprint levers and hoods would help prevent this.
No joy searching for BikeLane hoods, though I haven't tried Ridgeway Cycles, just been looking online. Any suggestions?
Edit: added profile shot to show shape better, sorry for phonecam pics.

I've got a pair of superbe pro brake levers that need hoods. The link for the bikelane hoods is dead. Are there any contemporary sources for compatible hoods?
Thanks, Eug
