2013 Trek Madone 6.5

2013 Trek Madone 6.5

Postby neil_kav » Thu Jan 10, 2013 8:19 pm

Hi, new to the forum, I have ordered a new Trek Madone 6.5 with the Shimano Di2 DA 9070 groupset. I placed the order with The Freedom Machine at Port Melbourne last September and was told about 60 day delivery date. That blew out to 21-Dec and when I called in December to confirm all was going OK the date had then gone out to Feb-2013. Has anyone else seen these sort of delays? Of course, the delay has been blamed on shortage of the Shimano Di2 groupset, but it seems someone has gotten it very wrong.

Was it a project one version?

I'd hope the bike store is very apologetic - sixty days is turning into six months...

The LBS is apologetic but they seem to have been the victim of poor communications from Trek as they were unaware of the delays until I dropped in to check the progress for what we thought was the 21-Dec delivery. Then we found it was Feb-2013. And yes, it was a Project One bike (still) being built in Wisconsin, USA.

And I'm jealous of anyone whop may have one already, but from my reading the Di2 delays seems to be affecting all brands. I could have changed to an available groupset but figured I may as well just wait and get what I really wanted. Nothing against Campagnolo but it was an extra $1500 for the SR EPS. Also considered going for non-Di2 and upgrading the wheels but decided to be patient. At this rate the 2014 models will be out before I get my 2013!
