A little perspective.....

A little perspective.....I've been watching various threads and posts here over the recent while, and I've come to the conclusion that our perspective (collectively) can be a little off.....
I just found out 2 days ago that I face a very sudden and life threatening/changing operation - I'm having a brain tumor removed tomorrow. I might be fine - I might not - but regardless - if this gives me an opportunity to step back and workout what matters and what doesn't in my every day, then that's perhaps not a bad thing. A message for all of us when we bitch and whine about the minutia of every person or incident that clouds our otherwise could be perfect days..... See the positive, even if it's just a weed through the footpath. You never know what life has just around the next bend. What is it with cycling? 30+ kmh and lycra???!!!
Re: A little perspective.....Good luck mate.

Merida 903 from the LBS-nothing fancy... but you haven't seen me ride (nothing fancy)
Re: A little perspective.....Fearful stuff, but I'd trade perspective for a few buckets of good luck and a side order of optimism in your situation.
Hope it goes much better than your worst fears. Cheers WombatK

Re: A little perspective.....All the best for the surgery. If it helps any I have two friends who have had brain tumors removed (one of them was done twenty years ago and he had a follow-up 12 months later). Both of these people are still living happy, healthy lives today.
[edit] Three friends now that I think of it. All healthy and well. Stay positive and we look forward to hearing from you soon. Last edited by il padrone on Wed Jan 16, 2013 10:34 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Riding bikes in traffic - what seems dangerous is usually safe; what seems safe is often more dangerous.
Re: A little perspective.....Sent from my iThingy... I ride, therefore I am.

+1 and seven pages of zeros. Stay strong Unc, heal fast. Shaun ...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

Re: A little perspective.....Wise words indeed...all the very best mate. You won't need luck with a positive outlook on every day.
Look forward to hearing from you here very soon. Never underestimate the power of ignorance
Re: A little perspective.....All the best, I won't say luck as our Doctors here in OZ are some of the best, they'll do their best to get you back to full health.
I know exactly what you mean, I watched my wife in hospital with a near fatal heart attack, the first time they did a terrific job & did 2 by-passes, the second time a stent, she's still going. I also had the misfortune of watching a member of my house slowly die from cancer, all this stuff changes your perception of what's important & how petty people (myself included) can become & what is really important, it changed the way I look at work, leisure (especially my cycling) & life in general, it isn't something that you can explain to another, unfortunately it's something you need to experience.
Re: A little perspective.....So very true. Best of luck with the op and recovery. Please post back here with updates.
Re: A little perspective.....All the very best of luck ........... see you back here soon.
Re: A little perspective.....Life ! that,s what is important, not the other crap we experience. My thoughts, as well as fellow cyclists are with you Uncle Arthur.
