Was going into Parliament House yesterday and spotted a Police cyclist (there are quite a few around there). He was happy to talk about his bike, a Hillbrick Eagle ( http://www.policebike.com.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ). I was assuming that like police cars, their bikes would be one of the major brands rather than handbuilt models from a local company ( http://www.hillbrick.com.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ).
This got me looking at what Police ride OS and found that Smith and Wesson make a police bike in the US: http://tiny.cc/x8ayqw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

Fix the cigarette lighter.
So we get the leaders we deserve and we elect, we get the companies and the products that we ask for, right? And we have to ask for different things. – Paul Gilding
but really, that's rubbish. We get none of it because the choices are illusory.

...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

I've seen a few of those, but never knew who made them.
I wonder, do any Police use road-bikes around the world? My guess is not due to the limitations of them.

Not that I've seen many/any recently due to less hanging around in the Perth CBD these days, but I think I recall the ones I saw being Giant hard tail MTBs... just with blue & white chequered livery and various racks and such. This was a few years back.g-boaf wrote:I wonder, do any Police use road-bikes around the world? My guess is not due to the limitations of them.
Maybe they need to get with the whole CX fad in terms of urban versatility?

Every one of those bikes better come with a bell as standard.
