Re: 6K Club 2013 Edition
My tummy is firmly in front of me. We ahve become good friends so much so that he does not want to leave. Doing my best to get rid of the little bugger though!!!
Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionI skipped cycling today as my fingers are still numb from my Sunday ride. Might see a doctor about them if they don't return to normal. It's not painful or anything but I don't want to exacerbate the problem.
Re: 6K Club 2013 Editionaww bugger, just a few kms short of the 400 mile badge. Can't ride til Sunday now as the bike's in getting a new freehub on the back wheel. Should get 80-100km in on Sunday and will keep pushing this month to try and get 1,000km / 600miles!

Re: 6K Club 2013 Editioni am back on board with a 27km loop of lake burley griffin in the lunchtime heat. The heat took a fair bit out of me, as a result no strava records... Plus, a week off the bike didn't help. I was waiting for my neew 32 spoke wheels to arrive because I got very tired of breaking a spoke each ride on my old 24 spokers.
Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionI am still trying to get to understand how to operate Strave. It seems that I need to keep a shortcut of everything.
At this moment i am tryign to get back to the target thingy. I don't seem to be able to find it thruthe dashboard and I did note in the early workings that the target thingy had a separate URL. Any tips. What is the URL for target thingy. Even better would be to have my BikeJournal log work correctly instead. Which other assure me should work fine. Any more ideas there anyone? Strava may be fine for hardware freaks that like to know their GPS coordinates and how high they climb but offers nothing to me other than a hard-to-navigate suite of modules. Regardless of it's functionality (which I gather is very high) the whole thing seems to have been patched together by the proverbial committee that designed the camel. (At least on a desktop PC, perhaps the apps are better though out.) It should not be that hard to find where to change a target distance for example. Profile would be an obvious place but I can't see it there. Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel

Sign up to that site. Then you'll see a place to enter your strava "id" which is a number. You set your target kms in statmonkey too. Litespeed Tuscany & Trek 8000 rigid MTB
Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionColin, go to the cycling target thingy settings page and choose bikejournal as your source and your bikejournal username as the source account. You should be able to get the 'strava' bar working off your bikejournal entries and not have to use strava at all (which I agree if you aren't using a GPS device is not as appealing.
After a poor week doing my best to fight off a stomach bug I decided my RDO today was time to try and get the riding back on track a little. Started really tough, feeling worse and worse for the first 20 odd km but as the temperature reached ridiculous levels I seamed to come good for a little while before the heat started taking it's toll. I dubbed my ride the 50/50/50+ ride as I managed just over 50km, finishing into winds of up to 59km/h and the Garmin with this reading.. .It got too hot for the action cam as it's overheating protection shut it down and when the temps started reaching 50+ the Garmin screen started to get a flicker as well. Passed a few overheated cars stuck on the side of the road too. Unlike Barrengarry late last year this time they where struggling on the flats.
Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionCan't believe you rode in that heat today Shane.
Was lucky we cancelled the ride down here, it was 45degrees and there was a Police man hunt we i was planning to take you Giant Reign 1 Merida CX4 Trek Superfly Al Trek Earl
Re: 6K Club 2013 Edition
Upon further investigation it appears it actually ran out of battery. A bit surprised at that though as I really expected the battery to last longer on time lapse. Only got 2 hours 49 minutes. Mugglechops, sounds like it's good we didn't do it then. A man hunt isn't the kind of thing you want to find yourself stumbling across in the bush. The shelter of the bush may have made things a bit easier than the road ride though. Coming out of the tree lined Minamurra cycle way onto the concrete and bitumen surrounding of the freeway was like walking into a blast furnace.
Re: 6K Club 2013 Edition
Thanks. Your advice - clear and very specific to my need. I have now done the deed. Looking forward to being in the mix with the rest. (Especially as I extremely pleased with my best ever start for the year. Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel
Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionBack to work on Monday, time to catch up all the KMs I am now behind and also catch a few people around here
I have struggled a bit with Strava, as reflected in the inaccurate figures below. So, thanks for that advice sblack, I am changing to Bikejournal as my source and I think I'll only be updating that rather than Strava. No GPS device here so Strava is not advantageous for me. I like Bikejournal as I just take the speed and average from my speedo and type them in. Allows me to see my monthly distances and averages too. Colin, looks like the old Bikejournal sig is not being updated, I think we will both have to leave that one behind and convert to the new sig. Such is life, you'll need to use the code on the statmonkey is a geek page. DS Riding: Cannondale Quick Speed 2
Re: 6K Club 2013 Edition............and looking at that graph, David you had better stop playing with the computer and get out and do some kms.

Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionAny of the SA people up for a ride tomorrow morning? I know the Ride like Crazy ride is on, but thought I would ask.
Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionI notice some members are running two signatures, as I was. They have been removed.
I tried loading the double info Strava signature only but apparently its too high in pixel count?, I seem to be stuck with the kilometers only??? Last edited by Mustang on Sun Jan 20, 2013 5:53 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionPretty decent ride today after the heat wave yesterday!
Re: 6K Club 2013 Editionit was a perfect day for a rdie in Canberra today after yesterday's 42 degrees. Ended up riding a 45km loop and saw heaps of other riders out too, hope the mild weather continues, i need to pile on some kms....
Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionMonsoon trough is here. Time to test the waterproof shell tomorrow. Humidity means I'll need extra fluids.
Probably hammer it down all morning
Re: 6K Club 2013 Edition78km yesterday, with around 1700m of climbing. For those vics on the thread, I named my ride "owned by Terry's"
Terry's ave in Belgrave = ouch. Wanted to keep momentum in the legs for next weekends AAC. "It is the unknown around the corner that turns my wheels"
Re: 6K Club 2013 Edition
You are smashing out the climbing. I don't think you will have much trouble next weekend. Good luck with it. I did 42kms this morning on the MTB and my mate broke a chain so we pushed and towed him about 8kms back to my house where we fixed it. Giant Reign 1 Merida CX4 Trek Superfly Al Trek Earl

Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionA late thank you for the welcomes and a late reply to an earlier question:
Our baby is due March 2nd. This is our third, a 7 year gap between this one and our youngest! going to be interesting..... If our other two are anything to go by, it will be well worth it. I don't know if I will head out if the baby wakes me at 4am, I am not so good in the morning. I much prefer an afternoon ride. It's all about motivation though, so hopefully I will get some! Hopefully I will be able to keep on the bike, starting to feel as though I am getting somewhere again after a long break off the bike. Loving Strava for motivation! just work on a few segments a day. Getting a PB is good, getting on or near the podium even better!!
Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionManflu and it didn't rain today grrr.
I'm resting and reading up on new bike builds for next year!
Re: 6K Club 2013 EditionOn call finishes tomorrow morning at 7:30am.. Yay!!! Means I can get some riding in after work then. Pitty I have a truck load of work on atm and will be doing OT.
