Tyre width and the new wider rims

Postby Arlberg » Sun Jan 13, 2013 5:32 am

Just a quickie, does a standard 700 x 23mm clincher tyre (Vittoria Rubino Pro III to be precise) fit on the new wider toroidal type rims such as the ZIPP Firecrest clinchers?

I built a wheelset with 23mm wide rims. My 23mm Vittoria Rubino Pro IIIs fit of course and measure 25mm across when mounted. You can run lower tyre pressures (I do so by 10psi).

I'm currently running Rubino Pro 23mm on a Mavic A719 with 24.5mm outer, 19mm inner. It measures 26mm.
