DT Swiss XR29 rear hub servicing

Postby possum-magic » Sat Jan 19, 2013 4:30 pm

I have a 2012 Scott Spark which is fitted with a DT Swiss XR29 rear hub. As I understand it, this is one of DT Swiss's standard rear hubs, but "rebadged" as "XR29" specifically for Scott.

I'm trying to remove the rear freehub, 'cause its sounding a bit like Roseanne Barr, but I'll be buggered if I can get the thing off. The DT Swiss 240 and 350 hubs are supposed to be able to have the freehub body just pull off, but I can't budge mine. Also, my axle (I have the QR hub) has a couple of locknuts with the flats that you would expect to see on a more "conventional" hub, and I can only remove the non-drive side one of these.

Does anyone know:
1. Which model DT Swiss hub the XR29 is a rip-off of? That way I might be able to get the technical manuals from the DT Swiss website for my hub (XR-29 returns a blank)
2. How to get the freehub body off the XR-29 easily?

Cheers,
Mike

Sorry, I meant a Scale, not a Spark. The Scale 29er Pro to be more specific.

I get the feeling I'm talking to myself here...

OK, I believe its a 370 hub, which is pretty similar to the Onyx one (which I think is now obsolete). Service manual can be found here: http://www.bionicon.com/images/service/ ... ss_370.pdf

Looks like the replacement pawls and spring are not that easy to locate in Australia...typical!
