Gravity Zero or TWE Wheels

Postby Unplugged » Sun Jan 20, 2013 12:01 pm

I'm new to this forum but was after some advice about these wheels. Both are in my price range and I would like to know of anyone who has had recent experience riding them. I am looking at either Gravity Zero 50/50 or 50/85 clincher or TWE 58mm clinchers. I only intend on racing Tri's on them as I have training wheels. I borrowed a set of Gravity Zero 50 clinchers and rode 30k on them and they really held their speed well. Have never laid eyes on a TWE wheel set though....
Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers

I have TWEs and would happily buy from Greg again (actually I would only buy from him), he is great, really looks after you and makes great wheels. I know plenty of people that use 50-60mm TWE carbon clinches for racing and training and they hold up to that. Plus they are great race wheels.

I havent had any experience with gravity zeros but have heard mixed reviews from others I have a mate that likes him but plenty of people that have had problems.

Thanks Vander,

Which TWE wheels do you have? Do you notice a difference between those and your training wheels, I train on Shimano RS80's.

Cheers

Do they have to be clinchers? If not, I'd have a look at Planet X wheels....

If you are getting them as race wheels then I would recommend getting tubulars over clinchers.

Depends if you are racing against me

Oh, you are a triathlete, then I can recommend TWE wheels to you then  was in there yesterday picking up my new set. Give Greg a call and he can build you a set to your exact requirements rather than getting a set off the shelf that is usually 90% or less there.

I have just a set of the alu training wheels as I have a powertap built into them, have tried the carbon clinches once and they felt good I was going to buy a pair back when I was able to ride and will when I can ride again.

Thanks for the info, will give Greg a call. I am after clinchers as I am a mechanical muppet who can only just change a tube!
