Inspirational Cycling Book
Postby 4xsama » Sat Jan 19, 2013 9:54 pm
So whats a really good book about cycling?
In light of the recent Lance news I'm still not adverse to his writings. There's the bust up's, the biographies and the life lessons.
I'm after an entertaining read about cycling be it right or wrong. Cadel, Lance, Hincape etc etc - not really fussed. Even an epic tour. A nice read (read in hindsight maybe) before sleep would be a treat.
Thank you and good night.

Published in 2009 before her London win, but nevertheless, the book
is good and the girl is the real deal.

I actually have this book but haven't read it. The old man (who is a fitter old man than me) gave it to me.V17L wrote:Try "Miles from Nowhere" by Babara Savage, about riding around the world.

But the Rupert Guiness book about Cadel's TDF win made me smile a hell of a lot, bringing back some very fond, if hazy (due to late nights) memories of that TDF.

French Revolutions by Tim Moore.4xsama wrote:I'm after an entertaining read about cycling be it right or wrong. Cadel, Lance, Hincape etc etc - not really fussed. Even an epic tour. A nice read (read in hindsight maybe) before sleep would be a treat. Thank you and good night.
Available in paperback but for bedtime reading my tip is to get the audiobook and the Audible app, set the sleep timer and let it play...It's not easy cycling the Tour de France. Battling it out with old men on butchers' bikes and pursued by cattle, Tim Moore soon finds himself resorting to narcotic assistance and systematic overeating.
Accounts of his suffering and chicanery, and those encountered in the race's history, are interwoven through a look at France's preparations for the most famous cycling event in the world.

Yup - Saw a book by him on the weekend. It was in the fiction section though.Christine Tham wrote:I have just read this book about this amazing cyclist called Lance Armstrong, who I have never heard of before. Apparently he not only managed to beat testicular cancer, he went on to win the TdF 7 times!!! I also heard his father walked on the moon.

Highly recommend entry No.8 'The Escape Artist' - Matt Seaton. I personally found it inspiring:
