Replace stem bolts
Postby kokoman » Wed Jan 23, 2013 6:10 pm
They're rusting on my Roubaix SL2 2011. How do I find out if they are M4 / M5 etc, and the length that I need?

It would be a pretty safe bet they are M5, but they cost bugger all anyway so if in doubt order both. Take one out and measure the length.kokoman wrote:They're rusting on my Roubaix SL2 2011. How do I find out if they are M4 / M5 etc, and the length that I need?
Then get on to Bolts Nut and Screws Online. They are based on the Gold Coast and their service is excellent.
Get the stainless steel screws so they don't rust again. They are so cheap I have felt guilty about the size of my order and bought extra screws to pad it out a bit.

Tread carefully, tensile strength of stainless is lower than that of carbon steel. Torque requirement will be lower, and so will the clamping force.
I ride, therefore I am. But don't ride into harm's way.

I need some of those. How are they measured? The entire length or the length of the thread?RonK wrote:

Traditional way of measuring bolts is from the end to the shoulder - ie the entire length except for the head.Nikolai wrote:I need some of those. How are they measured? The entire length or the length of the thread?RonK wrote:

It doesn't get easier, you just get slower
