Re: The "Excuses" ThreadHayfever today, easterly wind, no ride.
4 yr wedding anniversary tonight, gorged on pizza. Feel sick and guilty lol S-Works Venge
Re: The "Excuses" Thread
this one is a euro compliant ebike so governed to 27. No KOMs on it. Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.
Hopefully I'll know what that's like..... one day. ![]()
Re: The "Excuses" Thread
can we start a thread as it seems to be my only reason not to ride atm.
Re: The "Excuses" ThreadGo nuts mate. I'd start a "I didn't ride today because..." thread but I did fit in a spin on the FG today after the rain finally stopped.

Re: The "Excuses" ThreadYeah, can we have a "Dishonorable but unavoidable reasons" thread for when you're not really making excuses because you actually really wanted to ride? If not I'll just have to go here.
Industry Networking Event of Joy last night, suits all swanned off to Lamont's or wherever in their Audis afterward leaving a great big banner and sack full of abandoned company-themed trinkets for me to schlep home, Office of Schmooze needed the banner back first thing on pain of death. Re: The "Excuses" Threadplaying golf this afternoon. Unfortunately it worked out easier to drive.
Though I did do a short ride this morning
Re: The "Excuses" ThreadMy wife's about to have her second break from commuting in about five years after a crash in the Half Fling MTB race yesterday.
Thirty stitches inside the wound (about 45mm deep and 15mm wide) and 17 outside. I think we can call that an honourable excuse. There are many types of racing cyclists. There is the sprinter, the rouleur, the stagiaire, the danser, the descender.... sadly, I'm a mediocre.

Re: The "Excuses" Thread
it's an injury, so it counts. there's a separate thread.
Re: The "Excuses" Thread
pfft. Soft. Wind was blowing 40km/h with gusts up to 55km/h this morning (4:30am) so I reset my alarm and drove to work. I don't need to ride in traffic with those sorts of wind. 2010 BMC SLC01
Re: The "Excuses" Thread
Was riding to work around 6.30am and it wasn't all that bad. Certainly rode in worse conditions. ![]()

That sounds sensible to me. Safety first! Once you can climb hills on a bike it's all downhill.

Re: The "Excuses" ThreadToo smoky today in Melbourne.
Re: The "Excuses" Thread
Fair enough, even perhaps, wise. Call it a rest day, but make sure you catch up later in the week. We cant have you slipping behind in your training program
Re: The "Excuses" Threadlots of rain forecast for Brisbane today (suggestions of up to 200mm). could have got to work, probably would have had to swim home.

Re: The "Excuses" Threadgot out of bed too late yesterday to make the cycle in to work/shower/get to desk on time. was regretting it not long after I got on a train with fixed windows and useless airconditioning. Would much rather have been sweating on the bike than in the squashy carriage.
Re: The "Excuses" ThreadI may have to come back here and make my excuses.
Saturday morning my right hip was giving me grief. I cut my usual long weekend ride into half. Has remained fairly sore since and am spoiling myself with some limping, reduced activity generally, ice packs and NSAIDs. I am thinking (hoping) it was from some lunges I did without concentration as I would hate to see something chronic coming long or having surgery or long recovery time. I have Monday at home and I will be using public transport a lot more over the next several days. Unicyclist's don't need a training wheel
Re: The "Excuses" ThreadI'm giving my knees a rest. I rode Donna Buang at the end of January and had sore knees the next day. Last week on the commute home I got a bit of knee pain on the way home, and it flared up on the way home from Kinglake on Sunday morning, and on the commute home last night.
So I think I'll take a week off.
Re: The "Excuses" ThreadDidn't do my normal river loop or commute this morning.

Re: The "Excuses" ThreadFirst time since... I can't remember when.
I had to drop a kids bike and some booster seats off to a guy at work, so it just seemed like a good time to have a day off the bike and drive in. Weird. I ride, therefore I am.

Re: The "Excuses" ThreadLeft directly from the office on Friday so had to bus it in today - just horrible, waiting waiting for the bus, waiting waiting for the traffic.
Beautiful morning for a ride & I can't enjoy it. On the plus side it should be a good ride home I was going to buy a fast, stylish bike, but I looked in the mirror & thought "you're not fooling anyone, you know"
Re: The "Excuses" ThreadBleah, laid low for 2 days with some horrible lurgy. Am intending to struggle in to work tomorrow, but as I get light headed walking from one end of the house to the other, think I might have to take the bus. Bleah !!
Re: The "Excuses" ThreadDrove in today due to combination of laziness, resentfulness at not having got my leave app in before the rest of my dept, and needing to do a grocery haul bigger than the panniers.
I think the universe is punishing me though; I innocently sat down on the grass in the courtyard with my lunch and halfway to the ground my quad went bang “Lexa”: 2012 Trek Lexa S; “Bluey”: 2006 Trek 7.0FX; “Eddy”: 198[?] Graecross Jackaroo
