Lowered brake track - carbon clinchers

Postby Bakks » Wed Jan 16, 2013 5:35 pm

I bought a set of second hand carbon clinchers which have a lowered braking track. I need some brake blocks which will lower the brake pads to the brake track. Any idea where I can get a hold of some?

That's pretty cool, wonder if there's enough extra drop to allow retrofitting 700c wheels to a 27" frame... :?

Beware. As these are offset bolted to the center of the brake pad and undergo large braking forces, one of them could twist under braking. If one were to suddenly twist and jam into the tyre on the front, it may not end well. If you choose to use them, at least keep checking to make sure the bolts are really tight.

The above concerns are completely valid. We shared those concerns when we began testing these in 2008.

My team used these holders for an entire season without issue. This includes thousands of km of hard descending on big mountains, racing, rain, heat and anything else including some barnyard animals I came across one day.

The machining processes and materials used were chosen to produce robust, reliable products. If installed and adjusted correctly (which involves nothing special) these holders should perform flawlessly and you should never need to give them another thought.
