Crank Length

Postby CoffeeNut » Mon Jun 16, 2008 9:31 pm

Just noticed I have 170mm cranks on my Shimano 105 53/39

Is 170mm typical? Thought 175mm was more common ??

170mm is the common size for road bikes as it promotes spinning more. The common size for MTBs is 175mm...

If you've only just noticed, don't worry about it. ;)

Doing a lot of hills up here in Toowoomba. Contemplating compacts or a triple - so was measuring up some options.
I'm 173cm short, and frame is 52cm Trek - seems to fit well.

If your leg length is in proportion to your height of 173cm, 170mm is plenty long enough.

531db (184cm and 165/170mm 'cranker').
