Ultegra Di "fiddling" questionsHi all,
I have a couple of questions regarding software upgrades to my new Ultegra Di. 1. Can it be reprogrammed to multi shift? I.e. hold the rear dérailleur shift button and it keeps changing gears until the button is released (versus the current one push to change one gear) - I understand that the "13 Dura Ace has this functionality 2. I want to change the left lever so that the switches are reversed for shifting. Has anyone done this and how much should my LBS charge to do this change? Cheers all.
Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questionsim interested to know about the left shifter changing the buttons around as well..
Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questionsI have Ultegra di2. You cant multi shift but you can change the buttons over. Its all in the manual. If you don't have a manual you can download one.
Personally I dont SEE why the left shifter needs two button anyway. Why not just have one button that moves you to the gear you are not currently on? Last edited by Arlberg on Sat Sep 01, 2012 8:00 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questions
any idea on the page number? cant find it in my manual
Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questions
So they don't have to bugger around with the design of the body when they make it work for a triple chainring. Electronic changing for triples with hydraulic brakes will be a step closer to tandem heaven. Cheers, Cameron
Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questionsUpdate:
Had a quality bike shop do the work today. A fairly famous North Shore Sydney store which specialises in high end road bikes. They have reversed the switches on the left lever as per my request and did a full check of the bike. Apparently Ultegra Di can't be made to multi shift with a hold down of the button as yet. They believe that this functionality will come along with the Dura ace 2013 models' software upgrades. Anyway I was charged $60 for the work and am completely satisfied with the thoroughness of the job and service provided. The team were friendly and knowledgable and explained fully what had been done as well as gave me some good tips on Di usage and carbon bike maintanence.
Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questions
How about giving the store a plug and letting the rest of us know who did the work? Always handy to know a reliable, quality shop.
Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questionsYeah I'd be keen to hear about the Di usage tips they gave you.

Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questionsBit of a grave dig but I read today that Ultegra Di2 can now be upgraded to allow rear multi-shifting with the new firmware. Actually by the looks its been out since early Dec but anyway it can now be done

Any links on where you read it and instructions? Cheers Sent from my GT-P5110 using Tapatalk 2
Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questionsCycling express just posted regarding this on facebook. Apparently anyone with a computer and the Shimano diagnostic software can perform the upgrade... Now you just need to find a LBS with the setup.

Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questions
Maybe because you can actually think outside the box with the shifters. Who says the left hand lever needs to change your front rings up and down? Do you realise that if you want you can have your left hand lever 1 button change the front ring down and the other button change your rear cogs in to the easier gears and on the right 1 button to go in to the big ring and the other button change to the smaller rear cogs. If you only make it one button you can not do crap with it. DI2 is all about making things easier for you and changing what each button to make it work the best way for you to get outside of what was considered the norm of left hand gears for front and right for rear
Re: Ultegra Di
Yeap apparently the new firmware which is updated via the PC link now has multi-shift settings. You can set how many gears to change (2,3 or continuous) and at what speed (slow, med, fast, super fast) when the shift button is held down. Changes are all done via the PC. I think the PC link sells for about $250 but my guess is any good bike shop should have one instore and will prob charge $30-50 (CyclingExpress is doing it for $30 at least for existing customers). Re: Ultegra Di
do not agree with this at all, if they spend anytime they are entitled to get paid for their time, they have a hard enough time these days with people buying offshore etc, they have invested in the equipment, they deserve to get paid! If you are a regular customer, they may choose to do it for nothing, but please don't expect it as suggested. ![]()
Re: Ultegra Di "fiddling" questionstaking mine down to the shop to get updated tonight hopefully..
