Morning folks,
Hope you are all recovering well from the fantastic TDU in Adelaide last week,
What a great event.
Looking forward to next year allready.
Now over the weekend I have found a secondhand road bike in a shed, a mate of a mates.
I have not seen it yet but have been told the following ;
Its an ORBEA ASPIN running gear on a VOLATA frame
07 model he thinks
B&W 54cm frame with carbon fibre forks
A few bolts have surface rust and the chain needs replacing due to rusting
Not sure about the tyres but guessing they may need replacing also.
Would anyone have a stab an approximate value of this bike ?
Its fallen my way so I better chase it down.
ANY comments much appreciated,
cheers Pete

Excuse my ignorance markG, but what exactly do you mean ?
I'm guessing the head stem ?
By why ? or will I find out when I get on !
What would the original price be on this do you think ?
cheers PP

Stem is what connects the handlebars to the bike.
On a bike like that, it shouldn't be like that, typically horizontal or tilted slightly.
That one has the stem on some strange angle, put the handle bars almost even with the saddle height.
I don't know what the bike cost when new, but it seems in decent condition, so offer $500 and see what he says!

Had a look at this bike, its a no go....... unfortunately.
Many rusting parts and tried to pump the tyre and the valve came away from the tube !
The chain was pretty seized up and all cables needed replacing
He was asking top dollar and the condition was certainly not reflecting the price.
So factoring in a few hundred dollars worth of repairs it was overpriced.
Not looking for an Orbea bike specifically but I have found another one second hand for sale i will look at the end of the week,
see how we go.
cheers Pete
