Any notoriously bad road in the City?Need to get through the city tomorrow, any road I should avoid and others which are good? Any tricky spots?
Re: Any notoriously bad road in the City? Are you talking CBD? Where are you coming from?
Re: Any notoriously bad road in the City?Southern cross to Smith, I reckon down Lonsdale and Latrobe, then Brunswick.
Re: Any notoriously bad road in the City?I'd take A'Beckett and/or Franklin St, then head north up Cardigan St. Turn right at Queensberry or Grattan or Elgin
Re: Any notoriously bad road in the City?I'd rather Franklin over A'Beckett, lot of construction work.
What train are you on Tom? I'll try to give you a good run in ...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

Re: Any notoriously bad road in the City?Geelong line one of the morning ones, whichever one happens to be there when I arrive.

Re: Any notoriously bad road in the City?Ended up using a mixture, why? Because I got lost. Tell you what though, there really are some rectal holes in the city. Man in a big flash 4wd was beeping me because I was waiting to so a right. In the right hand lane. After a few beeps I moved yo the foot path because the man clearly had to get to his burning house or something and watched him continue on straight! There was a perfectly clear straight ahead lane to my left! Some people...
Re: Any notoriously bad road in the City?Glad you made it through alive.
I personally avoid Lonsdale Street as much as possible. I call it the 'trench run' ala Star Wars and that is in the car (my partner hates driving that street at any time). I've done it once on the bike (during peak hour) and was not a fan.
