Atlantis Spectrum - Anyone heard of these?

Postby DennyP » Wed Jan 30, 2013 11:49 am

Hello there,

I've bought an Atlantis Spectrum two days ago. Anyone heard of these bikes before? and if you have, would you mind giving me a run down.
There's a sticker from the Bike Barn from Parramatta, so this bike is from a LBS and not Km@rT junk.

The bike is along the lines of this one:

That's not mine ( I can't seem to attach photos on this forum :? )

Hello Mustang.
Ah I did figure out that I needed to manually do it using an image hosting website.

Anyway here are the photos! (wheels are removed for cleaning):

The bike you linked to first (not yours) is a totally different animal to yours. Yours looks to be a more or less typical bike boom setup from the mid-80's. It looks serviceable enough, it should give a lot of miles yet.

It may be the photo angle but is the top tube a lot shorter than the seat tube? Looks to be just my size.

familyguy: I was wondering what you mean't by bike boom setup of the 80's? Was there a surge of popularity of road bikes at this time, so a wave of beginner road bikes like these
started to enter the market?

lotsofsteelbikes: you're right!, it's 58cm top tube (c-c) and 63cm seat tube (c-t). I'm 180cm (77cm leg span) but I haven't taken this out for a ride to know if this bike is too big for me or not.

Commonly refers to Continental US, '65-'75. Took a few years to filter across here, when Japan entered the market with mass produced Centurions and the beginnings of Giant as we know it today.

I'm 6'2" and ride a 61c/c seat tube bike. Unless you've got long legs, you may find it is too big. Worth a try.
