Wheelset compatibility - Dura Ace 9000

Postby Weasel » Thu Jan 31, 2013 1:34 pm

Apologies for asking such a naive question, but does anyone know if the latest range of Dura Ace 9000 wheelsets are compatible with superceded Dura Ace running gear, such as 7900 etc?

Or are the latest wheelsets only compatible with the new 11 speed Dura Ace 9000 groupsets etc?

afaik, 11sp wheels will work on a 10sp setup, but 99% of the time, not the other way around.

Yes, If you want to run a 10spd cassette on the wider freehub that the 9000 wheels need for 11-spd cassettes, you just fit a spacer. The splines on the freehub are the same.

That is correct. You will have two spacers. The current spacer for a 10-speed cassette plus a 1.85mm spacer for the 11-speed freehub.
