What tyres are you ladies using?

Postby Stacka » Wed Jan 23, 2013 6:23 pm

Hi All

Just looking for some advice on road bike tyres, standard 23's.

I brought my bike 6 months or so ago and it came with the standard Bontrager Race Lite's (Trek Madone bike).

I have heard good reports on Michelin Pro 4's and also Schwalbe Utreno ZX's. I am not racing as yet, just training, approx 100kms or more a week. The oads that I use are quite okay as I stick to the highways and nicer suburbs (they have better roads! lol).

Please tell me what tyres you are running and if you are happy with them.

Cheers!

I am currently using michelin krylions, and have a pair of pro 4 endurance (michelin's replacement for the krylions) waiting for when they wear out. The roads I ride on are fairly rough, and I no longer race, so I have found these ideal. I was previously using vittoria rubino pros, but the krylions are wearing better and feel more secure in the wet.

I've been happy with gp4000s for a while now. Can't see me changing.

I dunno what the ladies are using, but Vittoria Rubino Pro are a popular training tyre with many forum members. Both my wife and I've been using them for a couple of years and I'm very happy with their performance and durability.

Second the motion. Doing great work on my 'Dale roadie.

I'm riding gatorskins, traveled over 1,000km to date and had one flat when I rode over a large piece of glass which sliced straight through, otherwise am happy with the performance.

Schwalbe Ultremo ZX is a great race tyre but will get cut up and punctures on our crappy roads. Vittoria Rubino Pro is a great training tyre (durable, good puncture protection, reasonably light but doesn't have the grip of the Ultremo ZX).

Thanks so much for all your replies. I have ordered some GP 4000's, they should be here next week. Looking forward to them!

Back on the Vittoria Rubino's after my Gatorskins survived two rides. It wasn't broken glass, but a thorn that got them.
