They almost look like a Racing 1, but I can't 100% tell from the pics.
I do know there's a Racing 1 Comp - http://www.this link is broken/fulcrum-racing-1- ... -wheelset/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but I don't know if they're the same ones.

For a $3000 bike I would expect there to be a pretty good wheel. Will have to wait to pickup the bike to see if they are a decent wheel set
Might need to upgrade the wheelset in the future

I wouldn't. This is one area most manufacturers can save some money and they know that many people are fussy on what wheels they ride on so it's easier to include standard wheels with the bike with the knowledge that the rider will add their own (better) wheels in due course.auswi2 wrote:....For a $3000 bike I would expect there to be a pretty good wheel.....

As far as I knew, the only Fulcrum front wheels that have 18 front spokes are the carbon Racing Speed, and the wheels on the Merida certainly aren't those.

They are Fulcrum Racing Competition an OEM wheelset (entry level).scirocco wrote:That is weird. Fulcrum 7's and 5's have 20 front spokes, 3's, 1's and 0's have 16. But the wheelset on the Merida has 18.

My guess is no chance they are fulcrum 1 or fulcrum 3 and prob not fulcrum 5.
Entry level fulcrum 7's at best

If the casual observer sees Fulcrum Racing Competition as the wheelset, they think they are good as they are used in competition, and carry on their cycling life not knowing (or caring) any better. Its only when they post on a bicycle website forum about their wheelset that a whole can of worms is opened up regarding how good their wheelset is and what would be a good upgrade. Sound familiar?

Well then, buy some Fulcrum Racing Zeros and she'll never notice but you willShay1971 wrote: It's funny I forked out quite a bit for the new wheels and showed my wife, but she said they look exactly the same.
but really, that's rubbish. We get none of it because the choices are illusory.
