Been watching this old Malvern Star as it's not far from home http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/370747430507 ... 1423.l2649
Just can't bring myself to bid on something with badly bent forks, non-original paint and only some of the original parts. 1949 though...

You're probably right about the weight. It might even be closer to 12kg.

But what kind of man can't lift 12kg with one finger? :|

I've got a very similar MS frame which is slightly creased but has straight forks, maybe you need both? ;)

If it's just the bars, get one of these benders and start bending. With that premium on spaghetti, rust (which some have noted has been selling well) will be relegated, and we will see a new cottage industry develop.

It needs to be 25.4 or whatever in the middle for the stem clamp - so how would you get that done on some bars that are sufficiently long enough to give scope for adequate "artistic expression"?

There are people who eschew butterfly bars for touring because they flex too much. Dunno what they'd make of this.

Interesting... thanks for the mention. I'll ponder more and get back to you if it works, but still haven't convinced myself yet the frame is worth the dollars  .

The familiar brick wall used as a backdrop is missing from this set of shots from Mario.

It went for $900 something, reasonable.

It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.

I object, that frankenbike is not "tandem shaped". Looks more like the result of a terrible accident
I was going to buy a fast, stylish bike, but I looked in the mirror & thought "you're not fooling anyone, you know"

That was being a little harsh - I had plans along these lines for that UTSO

Oh the huge manatee!

Apart from it's shocking visual presence, I don't think that chain arrangement would work for long, but perhaps just long enough before it snaps in half.
