Some eBay Rapha hate

Postby Dr_Mutley » Sat Feb 02, 2013 11:38 pm

Quite funny, but possibly has too much time on his hands? Sellers name is familiar, as is the sentiment of the description....

Look at this on eBay:

RAPHA JERK T SHIRT PINK L

That is pretty funny though because the seller is having a crisis - extremely self-conscious.

You sure about that? Is not liking a particular image mean that you are extremely self-concious and having a crisis? :?: :? Alexb618 post on several large online forums and if you are that curious about him I'm sure you can go read. I believe he races.

It is funny because it is funny reflection on cycling culture. Sort of like that performance video.

The first time I saw the Rapha web site I thought it was a parody - Poe's Law. I hadn't looked at it for a year or two so, before typing this, I visited it again. I don't think the Jahvahaah Internationale parody is particularly clever or took much effort - the real Rapha web site had already done most of the work for them.

That's too good.

Disagree with the self conscious remark. I'd chalk it up as dry humour.

Each to their own I guess. At least they put some money back into the sport.

Rapha co-owns the UK-based cycling team Rapha Condor-Sharp with London bike shop Condor Cycles. Rapha is also majority shareholder in Rouleur Magazine. In August 2012, it was announced that as of 2013, Rapha will be producing the clothing for the British cycling team, Team Sky.

Part of their marketing too I s'pose but I'm sure those on the cycling team appreciate it.
I don't own any of their gear but if you have the money and its good quality why not.

I don't own any Rapha kit because I cannot afford it.

If I had money I will have Rapha, their kit looks the goods.

I'd be ashamed of myself too if I'd shelled out for an overpriced hot pink t shirt :D
However the Rapha gear I have bought is well made and practical. Though pricey it has outlived other less expensive kit I've bought.

Rapha make some jolly nice, comfortable and functional cycling clothing. Buy it on special and the price is less painful. Their 100% merino road socks are superb, as is my 1915 retro shoulder-buttoned road jersey, also 100% merino and wickedly soft on the skin - no longer on their range, but a bit like this one.

I don't buy their clothing in pink though.

I just wonder why just about all the Rapha jerseys purchased are black since they make cyclists very hard to see.

You can buy them in a limited variety of colours. Your choice.

Yes I know they are available in other colours apart from black. My comment was that the most commonly purchased colour is black which makes these cyclists hard to spot on the road (few are using rear lights).

Because there's a bunch of roadies who feels black is cool. On the road where there's repeating shadows, it's so easy to not see a black rider on a black bike. Not wise.

What was wrong with the blue? Mine looks pretty damn fine!

Meh! The blue was OK, but I already have one in that colour, and I guess the alternative of black just coloured my attitude.

i can refer any bidders on this shirt to a matching $125 espresso cup and saucer printed with the rapha logo

great quality cup, so soft on my lips, makes the espresso so much better
if i get killed while out on my bike i dont want a 'memorial ride' by random punters i have never met.
