Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddle http://www.sellesmp.com/smp4bike/en/sup ... tion-table
what is the equivalent size for Australian men size for the M and L size? how do i choose the right model with the correct width for my sit bones. krank
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddlethanks tdc.
unfortuntaley, that link and the other links inside does not help me trying to link sitbone dims and waist size. krnak
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle SaddleI took a massive gamble and bought a Dynamic with carbon rails over the net (ebay actually). Paid $320 delivered. Never thought I could fall in love with a seat (saddle) but I have. I'm 182cm and 105kg at present.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddlethanks ako.
what is your waist size that you order to ? how does this sizing relate to the uk or usa sizing noted on the smp site? krank
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle SaddleMy jeans are a 102. From memory my sizing put me in line with 3 different models, one of them being the Dynamic. I had pretty much decided on the Dynamic before I saw that from reading other reviews and blogs etc, but that just sealed the deal.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddlethanks ako.
how does your jeans size at 102 translate into the seat sizing for the smp selle? why did you choose the dynamic over the composit? krank
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle SaddleI do not believe that measuring "sit bones" is of any use when working out what saddle you want.
Seems to me that every time I read about people who have done it the majority sit at 143mm. Read this Steve Hogg thread which will tell you about his experience with most of the models. From my research there the Dynamic is the one that he uses mostly. From my personal experience the Dynamic and the Composit feel similar although the Composit is slightly narrower and shorter. Quality, not quantity.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddleyour thoughts on the composit for 100km rides?
krank
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddle
Absoultely no problem . Maybe prefer the Dynamic? But that is me and who knows for you. Even if I knew a sit bone width I would give you the same answer. Test ride one if you can. Where are you based? Quality, not quantity.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle SaddleGot a Dynamic from Bike Bug $199 delivered. So far after a week of use love it !
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddlemy sit bones are measured at 130mm.
is 102 a M or L or S or XL in the smp saddle sizing table?? i am based in arnhem land, jabiru and ride on the open hwy currently with a bianchi 928 and a brookes saddle with titanium rails. krank
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddle
In my case I am a 87cm (36") waist so no idea what that means vs a S, M, L or XL. 102cm = 40", which has no bearing whatsoever on your sit bone width IMO. Last edited by sumgy on Sat Feb 09, 2013 5:46 pm, edited 2 times in total.
Quality, not quantity.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddle
Which brooks? I have a Brooks which I find as comfortable but they are awful for setback vs my SMP's. Quality, not quantity.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle SaddleSWALLOW LIMITED EDITION
what is setback and how is it better on you smp? what about the full carbon smp saddles - i don't read many reviews on these ones - how would they perform as opposed to the coposite and the dynamic? http://reviews.roadbikereview.com/selle ... o-review/2 krank Last edited by Krank on Sat Feb 09, 2013 7:21 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddle
Basically I can push my SMP further back on the rails vs my Brooks to get it in the position I want. Read Steve's blog for his opinion on the Carbon model. Quality, not quantity.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddlethanks sumgy.
how much setback do u have and length of stem? krank
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddle
Setback is completely individual to the rider. Read this: Go to Steve Hogg's blog and then read these posts, in this order: Premise Saddle height Saddle set back If you want to get fancy after that read: Arch support Wedging Shimming Quality, not quantity.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle SaddleIt relates to how short the useable rails are which doesn't allow the saddle to go back far enough. Seatpost setback can help but with only to a limited degree. Small frame seat tube angles become important for Brooks use. viewtopic.php?f=34&t=46670
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddle
Does not matter how small or big the frame is actually. My Blacksheep is a 25" ETT and I am still maxed out. Would love an extra 10mm of useable rail. The short useable rail is the only thing I really dont like about the Brooks. Quality, not quantity.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle SaddleCome in suckers.....Krank is playing his game again
I suggest that you have a close look at previous posts by Krank.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle SaddleOK, but what is the STA of the Blacksheep? What is the setback of your seatpost? Frame STA is often associated with frame type as most road bikes have steeper STAs. 75 to 73 degree STA should give a couple of cm at the saddle. Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddleerr Krank,
Sit bones are just that, bones. Waist measurements incorporate a lot of 'soft tissue' as well and are entirely irrelevant. To make matters worse the shape of the bones can vary dramatically between people so the dimensions at the top of the pelvis where the measurement is usually taken from, don't mean anything in relation to the dimensions of where they are in contact with the saddle. Saddles are very much a personal matter, someone else's dream saddle might well be an instrument of torture for you. To make matters worse even the right saddle in the wrong position is uncomfortable so a test ride might not tell the whole story. If SMP are marketing theirs based on some formula then it is a crock. If it was that easy then you could just walk into a shop and buy the perfect saddle. Finding the perfect saddle is a quest suitable for Arthurian knights, some people get lucky and find one early, some never find one, and most people give up when they find one that is 'good enough'. Tensioned leather saddles often suit people because they will reshape themselves to suit their owner over time. However they do have their drawbacks in care/maintenance and positioning. I'll go out on a limb and guess that your Brooks is a Ti Swallow. I like them, as do many others and I hope that it is at least good enough for you. Cheers, Cameron
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle Saddle
It is an MTB. Would be worse on the roadie. Probably unuseable. Quality, not quantity.
Re: Seat Sizing for Australian Male - SMP Selle SaddleWhy would he bother playing games? He'll just put people off side. Then if he really needs help in the future, the help may not be forthcoming.
