My Boss want to join in, but lacks a vehicle (unless he is able to borrow one of the schools ETB trikes... we're unsure if that can be done yet).
Is he able to join, and share mine?

I have 2 others joining us.....

JP (Vortex) and Ross (performer)....

JP has really short legs.....had to reduce the boom length by almost 5 inches and removed a load of chain......the Vortex looks really weird !

Yep, that's me registered and sorted.... still trying to rope in one more for a shared ride on the Performer, not looking likely though. :D

Good day up in Ballarat !

In the end we fielded a team of 10 recumbents.....

Here are some pictures of the collection of machines (three of them belonged to me)....

Everyone went really well and I do not think anyone was passed by a DF ! The wind was strong in places.

I managed an overall average on 36.2kph in the Mango with race hood, I have not ridden for 4 weeks due to crappy back and heavily sprained ankle over the last week and my heart rate was higher than normal by some margin.....but I was happy nonetheless........and broke the 40 kph speed limit quite a bit, think I Vmaxed at 47.5 kph.....

Velorossi was flying on his performer (with tailbox) and managed 36kph averages on his first few laps....not sure if he managed to sustain it over the 6 laps we all seemed to complete.....

My friend JP was scorching along on my Vortex and was averaging 32kph and the furthest he had been on my Vortex was about 500m before the event....he does a lot of MTBing so has huge legs but not 'bent legs and he did notice some unusual leg muscles working hard.....

The other guys all went well and we were probably a bit too serious as the other teams were having fun rides instead of racing.....

Some very random riding by many.....if they were on real roads a lot of the cyclist would be dead ;-)

Good day out.....I'll add my Garmin link after I upload and then tomorrow will look at the GoPro video......

Just uploaded to Garmin Connect:

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/271564658" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Weird, only 46.1 kph logged as maximum speed, 47.5 kph observed whilst riding.....and on the upload to Strava only 44 kph...

Top report Mr Riggsbie, great effort from the whole team to get out there and display the world of "alternative biking"...hehehe, scared a few I think.
Yeah my pace did drop off a little from the goal 36km/h average over the entire 6 laps, was great to pull out a huge lead for the first 2 laps before changeover though... empty track was sweet! My second session dropped to 35.5km/h and the final session was a very windy and traffic heavy 34.5km/h average (topped out for a max 45km/h at some point). Was a great experience (my first event) and definitely worth doing again. Next year guys we might have to split into 2 recumbent teams and really get a hustle on for the full 2 hours each rider?
Well done guys.
:D

Had a bit of a nightmare and thought I had no video from the GoPro3......

When using it you could hear it beeping and see the red light when it was recording, when I got home I got the dreaded "SD card not formatted" message <eek>

Brought the SD card to work and my laptop gave the same error message (both PCs running Win XP).......as a last ditched attempt plugged my SD card in JP's laptop (Win7) and bingo it works......phew !!

So 8Gb of video.....some of the video is pretty bouncy and a little close scything through the traffic......

I'll see if I can edit it down a bit and then it'll take about a week to upload to Youtube with our slow ADSL we have in Jan Juc.......

That is all !!

Hi, Results are in, we were the fastest team with 38 laps for team # 38. Next fastest teams were on 32.

Here is the link http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/?u=313 ... 82f0febf69" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also my blog with more photos and write up. http://modularbikes.blogspot.com.au/201 ... -2013.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks to all the riders, a great day had by all. Maybe we'll be a bit more forthright with the team name next year!

I don't know, Team 38 has some mystique about it. It's a bit like Area 51 carries all of this intrigue. Now that you've come in first it has more meaning.
You don't need the best kit, you just need the best attitude.

Finally managed to edit the last lap and throw in the GPS data as well

http://youtu.be/pHiWZmZSZgU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's taking an age to upload, good old Aussie internet ;-)

It shows the amount of traffic we had and the random nature of the other cyclists who were riding for fun......so managing an average of 36.2 kph over 36km/6 laps (1 hour in total) was pretty good !!

The coarse chip in Victoria still causes a l of vibration even with it mounted on a very stiff part of the body.....

Going to try some vacuum mounts next !

My GoPro is directly in my line of sight but you kind of look past it after a while......you look at your nose every waking moment yet you don't notice it !!
